I was at a Catholic function in another parish on Friday night. Out of curiousity I picked up a church newsletter. There was a brief article stating the parish priest was going to be competing in the Cairns Ironman Triathlon next weekend in North Queensland (Cairns is tropical, but it's winter down here or what passes for winter in Cairns - 16 to 26 degrees Centigrade next weekend = 60 - 78 Fahrenheit).
The distances are trivial It's only a 180 km bike ride; 3.8 km swim; and 42 km run! It's so inspiring! I could watch the competitors all day!

Any funds he raises will go to the Saint Vincent de Paul Conference in his own parish.
That's what I call a dedicated priest. He can have that on his own!
There's another priest in the archdiocese who loves mountain climbing.
He's another one who can have it on his own!

IRONMAN Cairns
Race in Paradise at IRONMAN Cairns: a 3.8 km swim at Palm Cove, a 180 km bike ride along the Captain Cook Highway, and a run along the beautiful Cairns Esplanade.
