Anyone in need of a good reminder of His love right now? I know I do.. My favorite verse from here is Job 34:19 – “He doesn't care how great a person may be, and he pays no more attention to the rich than to the poor. He made them all.”

What's yours?

1. Ephesians 2:4-5 – “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!)”

2. Psalm 86:15 – “But you, O Lord, are a God of compassion and mercy, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love and faithfulness.”

3. John 3:16 – “For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

4. Romans 5:8 – “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”

5. Psalm 147:3 – “He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds.”

6. Psalm 103:8 – “The LORD is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.”

7. 1 John 4:19 – “We love each other because he loved us first.”

8. Isaiah 53:5 – “But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.”

9. Psalm 103:13 – “The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.”

10. Lamentations 3:22-23 – “The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”

11. 1 Peter 5:6-7 – “So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.”

12. 1 John 3:1 – “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don't recognize that we are God's children because they don't know him.”

13. 1 John 4:10 – “This is real love--not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”

14. Job 34:19 – “He doesn't care how great a person may be, and he pays no more attention to the rich than to the poor. He made them all.”

15. Zephaniah 3:17 – “For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you with joyful songs."

Hi; good to see you; God bless His Word to you - and I think you have already been richly blessed by God's Word: there is a sermon in each of those verses!

YW . So can you obtain Chinese-English parallel Bible editions? or maybe you're already pretty fluent in Chinese not to need a parallel English version also. I myself would like to learn a language such as Chinese; up here in Canada, we are bilingual English/French.

(Maybe I was mistaken and should have said Thai.)

PS: So do you also use a Bible in Mandarin? it can be so enriching to read familiar passages in another language, especially if the language relates to one's personal heritage.

No, I'm actually Vietnamese! But I can imagine how enriching it would be to study the word of the Lord in other languages!

Oh so do you read / speak Vietnamese? I think the version in Vietnamese is known as the Cadman Version, named for the missionary who translated it: Grace Cadman.

I expect your oral Vietnamese is better than your written, right? it's often that way.

I think there must be some Vietnamese speaking congregations on the West Coast; although the main thing is what they teach from God's Word, right?

My favorite verse is probably John 3,16; I started a thread about it, as you'll see in my signature. (Also posted some comments on your profile page; sorry I mistook your name for a Chinese one at first!)

PS:

So did you yourself select this compilation of Bible verses, above? Seems that you have spent a lot of time with your Bible.

There really is no alternative to keep digging into God's Word for oneself.

1 John 4.10 is a great one which keeps it all in perspective from a Godward direction.

PS: Just to mention, I probably wouldn't agree with you completely in some of what you say in your article 'Sacred Pathways'; while it's certainly very true that there are diverse personality types and our feelings do ebb and flow immensely sometimes, yet when it comes to doctrine - what we declare to be true in our understanding of God's Word - I don't see much room for variation in the essential issues. For example, John 14.6 does say: "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by me" (even though many professedly Christian groups would deny this directly or by implication). For example, the Epistle to the Hebrews is a radiant and encouraging declaration of the superiority of Person and Work of the Lord Jesus Christ in all His titles and offices: He is superior to, and the perfect and final fulfillment of, anything in the Old Testament; (again, this is denied by many professedly Christian groups). Another example: Romans is an unanswerable argument in favor of the way God perfectly justifies - reckons righteous - those who trust in the provision of the Lord Jesus at the Cross (again, this is denied by many professedly Christian groups which prefer a more vague form of words which substitutes the far from adequate idea of 'becoming righteous' - which begs the loud question: whose righteousness: ours or God's? As the song you sang on Youtube says: 'Righteousness found only in Your face' ).

So what really is true and what really is false when it comes to understanding Biblical doctrine - or what you call "other theologies/churches/worshippers," does matter a great deal; some of these may actually be false, and what the Bible says about their truth-content matters far more than our personality and emotional response to those ideas.

Your great article on persecution indeed seems to point to the fact that it's because of the truths we hold in relation to God and the work of His Son that the world is antagonistic to Christians. As the Lord Jesus says in John7.7: "The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil."

I do like a lot of your articles and appreciate that a great deal of effort has been put into your site.
