  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    George Eldon Ladd

What can you tell me about George Eldon Ladd's eschatology? He seems pretty influential in evangelicalism, but I couldn't find much aboht his views other than he's a historic premillennialist and is credited with the "already-and-not-yet" approach to prophecy. The main thing I am figuring out...

Does it matter what day Christ was crucified on?

So, I heard a theory that Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday, rather than Friday (as is commonly believed.) Therefore, he rose from the dead on Saturday (the Sabbath.) Idk enough about this view to really either affirm or deny it, but is it a gospel issue? Can a genuine Christian believe Jesus...

MJ Only Can I convert to Messianic Judaism?

So, bit of a weird question, but I am wondering if I am eligible to convert to Messianic Judaism? I come from a Southern Baptist background, but found out that one side of my family was Jewish. They ended up converting to Christianity to better assimilate and avoid discrimination. I've been...

    What is a moderate?

So, since this is the moderate forum, I must ask, what makes you a moderate? I'm personally starting to think I am a moderate, but I also kinda wary of the label due to fear of drifting towards progressive Christianity and theological liberalism. I come from a conservative evangelical...

    Historic Premillennialism vs Amillennialism

Hello! I'm undecided about eschatology but doing some research on it. I think good points are made for both amillennialism and premillennialism. The only view I currently hold to with is inaugurated eschatology (or "already and not yet") where most prophecy has double fulfillment. It's normally...

    Mytho-History

Mytho-history is a theory that claims Genesis should not be understood literallt (or at least not literally in the modern sense.) instead, it is largely a figurative account that expresses important theological truths and to establish Yahweh as the one true God vs the pagan religions of the...

    Failing community college

I feel like my situation is a bit unique. I am taking class at a community college and I'm struggling with the classes. I've gone to this same school several times before and can never seem to finish. I've lost count at this point. The only reason I have gone back this time was because I was...

    Is the Bible inerrant?

So, do you think the Bible is completely without error in everything it touches on? I do believe the Bible is infallible, but idk if I would go to say that it is entirely without error on matters of history, details, etc. The point is to point people to Christ. It's not meant to be a collection...

Is there a Christian political philosophy?

So, I want to explore political philosophy and how it relates to Christianity. Ideally, our faith should inform our politics, but not the other way around. Yet, this unfortunately not the case in reality. I don't intend to turn this into a finger pointing game between the left and the right, I...

    Is futurism necessarily premillennial?

I've been researching various end time views to figure out where I land. I personally lean premillennial, but hold to it tentatively and open to amillennial and postmillennial positions. The only opinion I have that I am somewhat confident about is that I see the prophecies as having an "already...

    Job interview

I have a job interview. It's only a part time position at a fast food place, but I need some source of income while in trade school. Please pray that it goes well.

    Swedenborgianism

Swedenborgianism is a sect I have always found particularly fascinating, probably because of how small and obscure they compared to other controversial groups like LDS and JWs. I've been studying it mostly out of curiosity. The main reason why Swedenborgianism isn't considered a part of...

    Final exam

I have a final exam next week. Please pray that I pass it. I passed all my other exams in that class, but the worst ones are B-, which concerns me.

    Progressive Covenentalism

Hello! I am exploring eschatology to have a better understanding. I see arguments for both premillennialism and amillennialism, though I admit to being biased towards the former due to my denomination and upbringing. One view I am considering is progressive covenentalism. It seems pretty...

    Baptism question

Would an Anabaptist church accept baptisms done in a Baptist church as valid, or would a convert from the Baptist denomination need to be baptized before joining the Anabaptists?

    Historic Premmillennialism and Israel?

Where does historic premillennialism stand on Israel? I consider myself premillennialism but on the fence between dispensationalism and historic premillennialism. I say I am closer to the latter as I think dispensationalism gets too caught up in details that may or may not be true. I don't...

    Independent Baptists

So, I looking into the Independent Baptist denomination as I am kinda disillusioned with the the Southern Baptist Convention right now. While I like that the SBC is big tent conservative denomination, I am a bit concerned about its future such as falling back into theological liberalism and the...

    Non-Denominational Accountability

So, I have seen non-denominationalists getting a lot of flack online. The biggest criticism I've heard is that non-denom churches lack accountability since the pastor can do and teach whatever he wants, without any higher authority overruling him. What are your thoughts about this, and how...

    Work and anxiety

So, I just got a new job this week. It's fine, I guess. Better than nothing. It pays well and the benefits are good, but it has 12 hour shifts. Everyone I talked to suggest I stick with it because of the pay and I have no marketable skills. I see their reasoning, I get that money is important...

    Moderate Fundamentalism?

I know this sounds oxymoronic, but I wonder if there is such a thing as moderate fundamentalis'? I sometimes wonder whether I'm a fundamentalist. I'm a firm believer in the inerrancy of Scripture, and hold to a lot of conservative views on theology, society and sexuality. I also lean...
