  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do the angels in heaven celebrate the atonement of Christ?

The reason why I ask this is that our church leaders regard the communion service as really a tradition that needs to be done but doesn't engage them personally. It's the only time they ever use the liturgy. That part is just bolted onto the service. And in administering the bread they all utter...

Is the Nicene creed supportive of Reformed Theology?

"For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven, was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried" My denomination in its local expression really dislikes the atonement and I...

Congregation don't understand that Jesus died for their sins - but are they saved?

I suppose there isn't much more to add - that's the question. They never talk about Christ or share their walk with Him. They basically try to get as far away from the preacher and the front as possible. But maybe it's just 'cos they are anglo-saxon. But is the grace of God stronger than their...

Sanctuary Sunday - we are all children of God and we need to be inclusive...

Well, ARE we all the children of God? And what does it mean to be inclusive? The sermon this morning IMO manipulated these words to guilt-trip us into facilitating migration. In the current context this is NOT the migration referenced in the bible, of individuals or family groups, but mass...

How does extreme behaviour exist side by side with a spirit-filled ministry?

I have been reading about TB Joshua. It got me rather perplexed. Apparently, he didn't just have 'moral failings'. Don't we all? But there were miracles and conversion and church growth (along with all those controversies that always accompany such movements). In my boring, uncharismatic...

How does extreme sin exists along with a powerful spirit-filled ministry?

How has life changed for you spiritually, having retired?

I retired from work this time last year, although I was only working part-time. We had moved house during covid and since then we have lost a number of our Christian friends and acquaintances. We ourselves have had minor brushes with ill health and I have possible long covid in that I have...

Were you disappointed by your Christmas Service?

It's all a bit sad, really. There was an ideal opportunity this Christmas to focus on the person and work of Christ, initiated on earth at his incarnation. Our minister, who is a nice lady, felt she had to interpret the Christmas story in terms of the suffering of certain groups (mothers, the...

First sermon after the US election.....

In almost the first sentence of the sermon of our circuit preacher came the words, "Trump is a liar and it's going to be really bad for the next 4 years" He normally officiates in a very social justice city centre methodist church. I saw a respectful opportunity to push back a little as he had...

Saudi Crown Prince buys painting of Christ for his new museum...Is this significant for the end times?

Mohammed bin Salman was the mystery buyer of "Salvator Mundi," a painting of Christ by Leonardo Da Vinci that recently sold for a record $450 million. The buyer is Saudi Arabia's crown prince whose country forbids the official worship of Christ or any other religion except Islam. The likely...

Do you think at some time these threads will be examined by the State for intolerant opinions?

After the recent "right-wing" riots in the UK, there has been amazingly quick justice dispensed and a team was put together to find social media posts that "encourage violence and riot" It seems to me that there may now be an easy slope to judging certain Christian posts as hostile and hateful...

I feel so angry often about most of the Insecurity preaching that I have received all my life.

To me it seems that many evangelical preachers that I have listening to (with extended loyalty to His ministry) do not have the confidence in Christ's once and for all atonement for our sins to preach it. They communicate that His work of justification may be negated or overturned by our lack...

DEI is being 'forced' on those in our church with any roles.

I refuse to become members in our local methodist church even though we are more committed than anyone else apart from one older lady. And I know this stance is justified as I have walked this lady through the DEI online course she has to do. I notice her continually sighing, almost despairing...

Matthew Hopkins - Witchfinder - how did he get away with it?

From Wikipedia - "Matthew Hopkins (c. 1620 – 12 August 1647) was an English witch-hunter whose career flourished during the English Civil War. He was mainly active in East Anglia and claimed to hold the office of Witchfinder General, although that title was never bestowed by Parliament. The...

What hope is there to resist Islamisation (even of our churches)?

Went to a joint Anglican/Methodist service in our village today. The two leaders get on very well. The congregations are happy to be with each other. There are lots of joint social and cultural ventures together that improve the life of the village. Chats about involvement in city-based social...

Starting crying to the Moody Blues - what's the matter with me these days?

In the car this morning, contemplating how wonderful it is to get my vision corrected after a cataract operation and thinking about our wonderful new bodies when Watching and Waiting came on my CD player as the next track in the mix. I starting weeping ... "Soon you will see me, 'cause I'll be...

How has Equality, Diversity and Inclusion affected your church?

I just wonder whether this whole thing is a way of us avoiding persecution, by emptying all the ministries in the church and our church of the gospel challenge. Is it just a grifting scam for the world, or is it something significantly more dangerous for the world and for us.

    Easter Sunday - Resurrection

I wonder why our church took communion today. We should have focused far more on resurrection. What does this mean for ourselves, our own resurrection? Our future hope? We should all have left the church filled with hope and anticipation. Instead resurrection was tagged onto Jesus's sacrifice...
