Therefore, if you want people to repent, kindness is the way. That's what the bible says.
Kindness is good. By being kind, it can open up an opportunity to share the Gospel. It can also be a witness. But we still have to tell people the Gospel. If we don't then how shall they call on Him in whom they have not known? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a person to tell them?
The kindest thing you can do for a person is to warn them of their eternal condemnation that they are under. This too is an action.
Paul pointed out people's sins and addressed the conscience in the hope that people would repent.
Paul Addressed the Conscience
-Romans 2:14–15"Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law... they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them."
Paul appeals to the conscience as a God-given inner witness to right and wrong.
2 Corinthians 4:2
"Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God."
Paul deliberately preached truth in a way that would appeal to the hearer's
conscience, not just their intellect.
Paul Confronted Sin Directly
Acts 17:30–31 (Areopagus in Athens) "In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed..."
Paul speaks of sin and coming judgment to call people to
repentance.
Acts 24:24–25 (Before Governor Felix) "Paul talked about righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come. Felix was afraid and said, 'That’s enough for now! You may leave.'"
Paul’s message clearly
convicted Felix—he didn't avoid difficult topics like sin or judgment.
Romans 3:19–20 "Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God... through the law we become conscious of our sin."
Paul shows that the
Law is meant to expose sin, making people aware of their guilt before God.
1 Corinthians 6:9–11 "Do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers... will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed..."
Paul doesn’t shy away from
naming specific sins, but he follows up with the
hope of redemption.
Galatians 3:24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.
Paul’s approach of used the
Law to awaken the conscience and reveal sin before pointing to Christ
Paul didn’t just preach love and forgiveness or simply do good deeds—he often began by addressing
sin, conscience, righteousness, and judgment so that the
Gospel would make sense and convict the heart. This is a clear biblical pattern for evangelism.
Just pray for the HS to come
Yes. Do pray to be filled. This is very important. Without being filled, you probably will not have a drive to talk to the lost.
NOTE: Many believers say that they are filled with the Spirit, but there is little evidence. If we look in the bible, time and time again, it says that they were filled with the Spirit, and they spoke. It says this many, many times. Or else it will say they were filled with the Spirit and then they prophesied. So, they opened their mouths again. People who have the Spirit will open their mouths.
Also, check out Rev 19:10 for what prophecy is. It is when we testify of Jesus. So, when we tell the Gospel.
Prophecy need not be telling the future. It may simply be giving scripture in a new light that speaks directly to people. Now, the Gospel is certainly foremost in this.
Also, another thing to pray for is more love for the lost (your neighbour). If your love is strong enough, it will overcome fear. This is similar to if your child fell into a river that had crocodiles in it. You would not hesitate to jump in and save them. Love overcomes fear.
Not everyone has the same gifts or abilities?
God did make us all different. Some he made to be ears, some he made to be hands, some he made to be a mouth and some he made to be feet.
If you are an ear, listen to people's problems and then tell them the Gospel.
If you are a hand, mow someone's lawn and weed their garden and then tell them the Gospel.
If you are a mouth, teach people and then tell them the Gospel.
If you are feet, walk to the parks or down the street and then tell people the Gospel.
We do have different giftings and abilities and with these, we should bring Glory to God. We should not use our gifts as an excuse not to give God glory.
I am a foot. I often choose to go to the parks and give God glory. Sometimes I am a hand, and I share the Gospel. Sometimes I listen to people and then I tell them the Gospel.
We are not all called to be street preachers, but we should all have a desire to say the Gospel to as many people as possible
You know, some people can't even speak, think about what they do to express their faith.
Words can only say so much.
Yes. In some cases, people are not blessed with speech. But their desire should still be to bring Glory to God in whatever way they can. We are to make the most of what God has given us.
If the stars in the heavens who do not have a mouth will speak of His greatness night after night. How much more should we who have mouths tell others of His great love?
Paul was not a good speaker, but he still spoke. The same with Peter and John
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus." — Acts 4:13 (NIV)
God has blessed us with mouths, we should use them to bring Him glory.
