What choice are we leaving the people who only want to serve this Nation, if we expect so little of them, that we think them capable of betraying their oaths to support and defend the Constitution?

The thing is that the Constitution stands as a great testament to our great Nation a heck-of-a-lot better than it standing up to political expediency.

Should some lying mountebank ever get into the Oval Office, “none dare call it treason” will be the watchword, fortunately, that hasn’t happened yet.

I seem to recall that President Trump peacefully left the Office of President so that his successor could have a crack at ruining/running the Nation for a spell; to suggest that Trump is a lying mountebank would be against forum rules about speaking ill of our betters.

He was forced to leave peacefully, since the attempt on the 6th of January failed. And Trump was smart enough to stay in the background so he could dissociate himself after Pence had sent national guard etc. that cleared the Congress from the rioters.

Statistic showed that every third tweed of Trump contained a distorted or totally faked »fact«. I think this allows to call him a habitually liar. It's no insult, it is stating a fact. Or did I overlook that the proportion of distorted facts in Trump's postings (X, truth social, etc.) has shrunk dramatically in the recent past?

Citing a former cabinet minister under the Yoon administration who dined with the president several times, Asahi reported, “Yoon began bringing up the term ‘martial law’ more frequently in gatherings after the ruling party’s crushing defeat in the April elections last year. His stress levels and alcohol consumption increased as well.”

Asahi also reported that Yoon became heavily influenced by far-right YouTube channels amid declining approval ratings and criticism of his unilateral governance style.

A close aide to the president said, “As his approval ratings remained stagnant and criticisms of his governance style grew, President Yoon became increasingly absorbed in far-right YouTube broadcasts.”

A Christian protest group (including me) got a sign of honor from Him, I'm somewhat uncomfortable with the thought he might be a supporter of the coup.

South Korea Deployed 3,000 Cops in Dramatic Arrest of President Yoon

In order to get the president into custody, Seoul investigators scaled barricades and cut through barbed wire to reach his residence, as reported by BBC News. In addition to the police who cut barbed wire and overcame barricades, 1,000 officers scaled walls and hiked up nearby trails to reach his residence. Both Yoon's supporters and protesters were gathered outside of his residence when the arrest occurred.

[Other than being quite a spectacle, I don't believe there was any trouble.]

South Korean court removes president from office, says he violated duties

The Constitutional Court upheld the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol over his martial law gambit. South Korea will elect a new president within 60 days.

The court said Yoon had undermined the authority of the National Assembly and other democratic institutions, and had “gravely violated”his duties to the people and as commander in chief when he mobilized troops to try to seize political control of the legislature in December.
