You think Satan tells the truth?
You miss the point, there had to be some truth in his proposal or it wouldn't be a temptation.
Jesus would have just said to Satan "You have no authority to offer the kingdoms"

It's only been a few days and the mask comes off... I guess casual racism is normal now.

At any rate, I was speaking directly to the increase in terrorism and violence against minorities and those deemed "the enemy within" and "poisoning the blood of our country". You must own that now.
Simply stating a fact is not racism

Christ is not "king elect". God is omnipotent and did leave the world to Satan. Satan is not some kind of co-creator with God.

I was going for a common reference that was more easily understood and communicated.

I could link to a pastoral article on the topic but you seem to have no understanding of the concept at all.

Do you believe this is the eternal state and that there's no sin in the world?

The rest of us believe that Jesus will return and that we await our consummated or glorified state where there's no sin.

Let the following song be a summary of my feelings after the elections. And let it be my gift.

Thank you for the beautiful, peaceful 8+ minutes ...

The only increase in violence has been against Jews and Trump has nothing to do with it whatsoever
Agree, except for maybe Chicago. An amazing 499 homicides so far in 2024. The victims are mostly young, black males, and the perpetrators are mostly young, black males.

I recall when they started calling Chicago "Chiraq", because there were more deaths there than the war zones.

It's horrible.

I believe there's a lot we could do involving increasing police presence, having school choice for parents and improving school systems and community centers, working to encourage 2 parent families and I believe we should get more youth encouraged in the trades.

I think the trades are undervalued in all communities... We should encourage more young men into trade careers, electricians and plumbers and carpenters and HVAC technicians etc.

They are perfectly good paying careers that we could encourage youth towards which don't take expensive degrees.

I believe we can encourage people of all races out of cycles of poverty if we work together with a good Administration.

I know poverty is not the only reason for gang violence but I do imagine the liberals are right in that it plays a part, but clearly we are not addressing the problems in a productive way as it stands.

The song you shared WAS a gift to me.
It inspired me just now to write this (link below).
(Go figure? )

Thank you for the blessing.
And may God bless your day also.

Blessed are the peacemakers ...

It's the same where I live. I don't know the exact numbers but it's high. Mostly young black men killing young black men and sometimes they hit an innocent bystander.
There is also a war going on between black gangs and Mexicans. They have robbed several Mexican owned businesses and killed four people during the robberies. One of the cartels is rumored to be sending people here to fight back.

In keeping with confessional Lutheranism and orthodoxy in general, I do not believe sin has a substantial reality, but exists as a privation of the Good. And I also believe that God in Christ has conquered sin, death, and the Devil. So I do not subscribe to any kind of dualism.

You're thinking of the story too literalistically. The point isn't that Jesus was realistically tempted, the point is that Jesus refused the way of power.

Yes, according to the Bible, the devil tempted Jesus for 40 days and nights in the Judaean Desert after Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist:

  • Fasting: Jesus fasted during this time, going without food and water.

  • Temptations: The devil tempted Jesus in three ways:
    • Turn stones into bread: The devil told Jesus to turn stones into bread, but Jesus replied that people need more than just bread to live.

      • Throw himself from the temple: The devil told Jesus to throw himself from the temple's highest point and have angels catch him, but Jesus replied that people should not test the Lord.

      • Worship the devil: The devil offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if he would worship him, but Jesus replied that people should worship only the Lord.

    • Return to Galilee: After Jesus refused each temptation, the devil left and Jesus returned to Galilee to begin his ministry.

The temptation of Jesus is described in the Bible in Matthew 4:1-11, Luke 4:2-14, and Mark 1:12, 13. In many Christian denominations, Lent is a season that remembers Jesus' fasting in the desert, and many Christians fast, pray, and give alms to the poor during this time.

People are still sinning, dying and being tempted by the Devil

I don't have time or patience to explain classical Lutheran or Reformed theology to you. Do your own research.

I doubt it. Baptists are not Reformed. Reformed theology is far more than unconditional election/predestination.

That's the whole problem, you think you as a Christian are being oppressed, despite exceptionally high levels of religious freedom. It's delusional thinking that got us in this mess in the first place. Until Christians can learn to think critically and soberly about their moral responsibilities in the world, the wider culture will continue to rightfully regard the Church as a byword among the nations.

Take a breathe.

Perhaps

I recall you deciding awhile back that debate of ideas wasn't worthwhile....and I haven't seen you here since, not that I can recall anyway.

Good to see you back, hope you are well.
