Acts 19:4 "Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus." The Repentance John preached was to Believe on Jesus Christ. Not turn from all your sins to be saved. Repenting of sins is works Jonah 3:10 And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.

The repentance for salvation is you turn from whatever false gospel you were trusting in before, and Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Acts 20:21 Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

Sin is transgression of the law 1 John 3:4, so if you're stopping sinning then you're keeping the law. and thats works salvation that is a false gospel.
Salvation is Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. not stop sinning to be saved. nobody has stopped sinning we sin every day. every day we confess sins to God and turn from that, thats works! Salvation is a one time event, not a process. You Believe on Jesus Christ, you pass from death to life, you hath eternal life past tense no man can pluck you out of Jesus or the Fathers hand, never die never perish, Once Saved Always Saved.

John 10:28-29 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

Let's look at Acts 16:30-31 as an example. You've left a lot out of that. The jailor was told "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved". He then went through a catechism where he was taught more fully about Christianity and was then baptized. So obviously it wasn't merely belief at some point. He had to be taught more fully and then, as Jesus said, endure to the end" in order to receive salvation.

What must I do to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house." Paul did not say you must be water baptized to be saved. he said Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Did they get water baptized in Acts 16:33 “And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.” yes they did but Paul didnt say that you must get water baptized to be saved. The Thief on the cross was not water baptized, yet he's in heaven. What MUST you do to be saved? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. period. it doesnt matter if you go and get water baptized after that, that doesn't affect your salvation.

The thief on the cross died sinless. Jesus forgave his sins before he died. On judgement day he will have nothing to be judged for. We receive that same forgiveness through baptism, see Acts 2:38. Afterwards, according to the new testament, if we willfully sin after baptism we are condemned. See Hebrews 10:26-30.

Acts 8:37 “And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ comes before water baptism. whether one gets water baptized or not, you must Believe with all your heart on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved. water baptized or no water baptized.

Acts 8:37 answers the question asked by the eunuch:

Act 8:36
Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”

The answer was "if you believe you can be baptized". Just like Jesus said:

Mar 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

I will disagree, when Paul stated believe on The Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Then the next verse states Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house.

I believe.
What Paul did when he spoke the word of the Lord to him. Was to tell the jailer and his household about what believing in Jesus is. Which is stated in The Gospel of John. That is to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life and become a born again child of God, believe in Jesus. Which means to believe Jesus is who He says He is The promised Messiah / The Son of God, the resurrection and the life. To place your belief in Jesus for Eternal Life salvation

Actually it's far easier to see what it was they taught him. They did just what Jesus said:

Mat 28:20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you..."

This ( Matthew 28) was addressed to believers and not to unbelievers and what they must do to receive Eternal Life.

Yes, one must repent from unbelief to belief and this comes from a genuine Love for Jesus Christ of Nazareth first.

Some people teach that you simply have to believe that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that you can continue in abhorrent habitual sin such as regular paedophilia and you are saved. So as long as you believe, then you are saved. This is wrong.

If someone truly believes, then they are saved. But we can tell if someone truly believes as there will be actions with true belief. We act according to our beliefs and our actions will substantiate our belief. (James 2:24)
For example. If I were to tell you that there is a land mine in the path and you choose not to believe, then you will walk onto the land mine. But if you believe, then your actions will be that you will walk around the land mine. So, your actions substantiate your belief (James 2:24). And likewise, those who truly believe will realise that their sin was the reason why Jesus died on the cross. So, they will see their sin in a new light knowing that what we have done is detestable. They will want to run from what put Jesus on the cross and they will want to honour God. So, the people who truly believe will leave their sin while those who do not truly believe will not leave their sin.

In Hebrews 3:12-19 we see that unbelief will have the actions of disobedience. While true belief will have the actions of obedience. Obeying will not save you, but it is a sign that shows you truly believe. (Verse 16 onwards is the key. I have underlined it)
"Take care, brothers and sisters, that there will not be in any one of you an evil, unbelieving heart that falls away from the living God. But encourage one another every day, as long as it is still called “today,” so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have become partakers of Christ if we keep the beginning of our commitment firm until the end, while it is said, “Today if you hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts, as when they provoked Me.” 16 For who provoked Him when they had heard? Indeed, did not all those who came out of Egypt led by Moses? And with whom was He angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did He swear that they would not enter His rest, but to those who were disobedient? And so we see that they were not able to enter because of unbelief."
Israel's unbelief kept them in their sin even though they had walked through the Red Sea. They knew there was a God but they chose not to honour Him and so they were not able to enter His rest because of their sin. Their sin was a sign of unbelief. And today we all know that there is a God because creation testifies of Him, but we need to choose to honour Him.

NOTE: I am not saying that we will be perfect either. We have a battle within us. Flesh verses the Spirit. But your overall desire will be to honour God by leaving your sin. True belief will have actions.

James 2:24 says, "You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone."
Justified does not mean saved. It simply means that the works you do will be evidence on the day of Judgement that you truly believed. So, those who simply believe and continue in sin will be in great danger.

Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord" Heb 12:14

NOTE: The word "belief" in the Greek is "pisteuō". This means to believe, commit unto, or trust.
What is true belief? Many believe and are not saved. A person can even think that they truly believe but when tested, they fail the test. They did not truly believe. For example, if you are going skydiving for the first time, on the ground you may be confident and say, "I will jump out of the plane. I have a parachute and so I will live." You believe you will be OK. But when you finally are at 10000 feet and you look out the door, you may say to yourself, "It's higher than I thought, and I would hate it if my parachute did not open. I am not going to jump."
So, even though you said you believed the parachute would save you, in the end, your true belief came out when you were tested. In the end, you did not trust the parachute and so you did not jump. In the end, we are justified by how we act and not by belief alone (James 2:24)

no normal man has those desires only those who reject the gospel enough times and then are given up and over by God to have those vile affections. see this thread: Reprobate Doctrine Sodomites are filled with ALL unrighteousness they do it all. no natural man desires that. Its unnatural against nature. read Romans 1:18-32

To obey for salvation means to obey the gospel, and to obey means to believe the gospel, Romans 10:16 “But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?” Its not saying you have to obey the commandments to earn eternal life. Salvation is faith alone in Christ alone.

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

So the bible says it is by grace through faith not of works, so that means faith cannot be a work, the opposite of faith is work otherwise this verse makes no sense. to say faith is a work is false. Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Also James 2 is about justification before man, not God. see this thread: What about James 2? yeah James 2:10...

Romans 4:2-8 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

see that Romans 4 clearly tells us that Abraham was justified by works before man, because if he hath whereof to glory, but not before God, who else is there to glory before? man. when he offered Isaac on the alter, and he hath whereof to glory before man, but not before God.
Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Abraham was Justified by faith alone in Genesis 15:6

Galatians 3:6-9

6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.

7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.

8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

9 So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Sin is transgression of the law 1 John 3:4, so if you're stopping sinning then you're keeping the law. and thats works salvation that is a false gospel.

Jesus states that he did not come to do away with the law, but fulfill it.

He gave us two commandments that we can hang the entire law on as well. Love God with all your heart, soul and mind and love your neighbor as yourself. If one is doing these two things they are keeping the law. A law that comes naturally from the heart -that is what true repentance is. Are you stating you don't follow the two commandments as best you can that Christ gave us? If one is truly a Christian and in tune with Christ, these will come from the heart naturally.

And are you really going to state that Christ did not teach repentance after becoming a Christian? In his letters to the churches which are Christians without a doubt) that's his biggest talking point -repentance.

Revelation 2:3 "And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted."

Revelation 2:4 "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."

Revelation 2:5 "Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent

Revelation 2:16 "Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."

Revelation 2:22 "Behold, I will cast her into bed, and them that commit adultery with her unto great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds."

Revelation 3:2 "Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God."

Revelation 3:3 "Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon you."

Revelation 3:5 "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

All fall short, miss the mark but we have to get back in that light that John talks about to have fellowship and have our sins cleansed. We cannot continue in what's called wilful sin. Which is different than falling short or missing the mark.

Do you you really believe Christ died for your sins so you could continue in them without caring or repentance?

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
It doesn't mean they haven't achieved repentance (change of mind) and are going around constantly in sin. Some people for whatever reason cannot produce works. Maybe they are disabled, live by themselves, who knows what but God knows their heart. A person going around sinning without caring has not achieved repentance and therefore continues to walk in darkness as John states.

And here is what I see in Acts 19:4 .

Reading first , verse 2 , Since having believed , did you RECIEVE Holy Spirit ? and the ones said to him , But we did not HEAR

whether there is HOLY SPIRIT .

Verse 3 He Paul said to them , For what reason then were you BAPTIZED // BAPTIZO , ??

And the ones said to them , and the ones said , into the BAPTISM // BAPTISMA of John , so how will any one says what BAPTISMA means here in the Greek n text ,

Then in verse 4 , And Paul said , John indeed BAPTIZED // BAPTIZO with a BAPTISM // BAPTISMA OF repentance , saying to the people in order that they should in the ONE coming after HIM , that is , in the Jesus ,

Your thoughts as to what BAPTISMA means in the verses above ?/

Read Matt 9:13 “For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.””
This says that Jesus wanted sinners to have a change of mind. So, once they sinned, and then they are to change to living in a Holy manner.
John 20:30-31
30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:

31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

The book of John written to show us how to be saved never uses the word repent or repentance ONCE. yet over 90 times it says Believe, Believe, Believe.

John 1:12 “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”

John 3:15-16 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

John 3:18 “He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

John 3:36 “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”

John 6:40 “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”

John 6:47 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.”

John 8:24 “I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.”

John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Salvation is a one time thing Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.

Agreed. And those who truly believe will leave their sin. If they are to willfully sin after they understand, then that is like nailing another nail in the cross. Those who truly believe would hate to put another nail in the cross.
This does not mean that we will not sin. But our overall desire would be to honour God.

How do you reconcile Matt 9:13?

But don't you believe in his ministry and what he taught? That is part of believing on him or why would you call yourself a Christian? He would say, "go sin no more" and as I stated Christ in the Revelation definitely taught repentance to the Christian churches after they had accepted him, etc.
