Hello folks. Today's news is very dark, but is important for Christians and atheists alike, and goes to show how both parties have corruption. The Republican National Convention had an opening prayer by Dhillon to an ancient entity, a false god named Waheguru today on July 17, 2024. Prayers for those who are misled by the world. Makes me wanna vote for the American Solidarity party, a centrist, Christian party which is pro-life and pro-environment, and it does not force religion on others. For reference, I was never a Republican, and have moved closer to the center from the left over the past few years, and especially over the past few months.

Source:

Opening "prayer" to ancient demon: "Dear Waheguru, our one true God, we thank you for creating America as a unique haven on this Earth, where all people are free to worship according to their faith. We seek your blessings and guidance for our beloved country. Please bless our people with wisdom as they vote for the upcoming election and please bless with humility, honesty, skill and integrity all those who conduct the election".

How is prayer to the god of one religion different from a prayer to the god of your religion?

And, no, you don't get to say yours "is true".
Well, this is a wake up call to my fellow Republican friends, that no party is Christian. Many folks associate the Republicans for having a Christian moral ground, when in reality, no party has a Christian moral ground.

And hey, whatever works for you. If one is Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh or Mormon, these folks have every right to believe in their own religion, as long as it is not forced onto us. For myself, I believe Jesus is the one true God. In our prayers as Christians (well as a Catholic), we pray in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the three parts of the Trinity. Jesus died for our sins as stated in John 3:16. None of these other gods died for our sins, nor have forgiveness on the level that Jesus does.

Oh, but we do.
Amen, brother. Jesus is Lord. 1 Timothy 4 has a warning about folks following false gods in the End Days before Christ's return.

1 Timothy 4:1-3 (NKJV): "Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth."

I think it is the state of politics in a plural society. All votes are welcome and solicited by means available. Every vote counts. A president represents Sikh citizens, too.

Amen, I am gonna say this, I am glad that I do not watch politics that much, cos the demons are coming out of the woodworks in both parties.

All other gods are false Gods (Exodus 20:3-5).

Yes, all votes are welcome, and Sikh citizens have a right to vote, but opening a secular party with a prayer to a Sikh god is kinda messed up.

Sikh folks are very polite and nice, from what I have heard, and will take the shirt of the back for someone. They just need Jesus though.

RNC makes tiny effort to make tent bigger.

Onlookers: Demons!

I wasn't going to mention the gross comments by rightwing racists like Nick Fuentes, but... I guess now I am. Can't be worse than demonic invocations.

MAGA Makes Racist Attacks Against JD Vance's Wife

"Who is this guy, really?" Fuentes said on his podcast. "Do we really expect that the guy who has an Indian(*) wife and named their kid Vivek is going to support white identity?"

Vincent James Foxx, who was present at the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, wrote on X: "JD Vance gets tapped as VP and immediately there's a Hindu(**) prayer at the RNC."

(*) Usha Vance is an American born to Indian immigrants
(**) Dhillon (and her prayer) is Sikh

At least until the elections are over anyway, and then it's "deportation time", and "go back to your own country you brown-skins", or any other skin/ethnicity/religion except for white-skins, etc.

God Bless.

You're either fine with prayer at political events or you aren't. I've pointed out before that a Coptic Orthodox priest, Fr. Mina Essak of St. Mark Coptic Orthodox Church in Troy, Michigan, made history in 2016 by becoming the first Coptic Orthodox priest to open a session of congress with a prayer. In our case, and I would imagine in the case of Sikhs or Hindus or others, this represents for us as a 'foreign' religion a level of inculturation and integration with wider society in the USA that we are quite pleased with. It is not to deny any other religion their chance to do the same, since that's the whole way we were allowed to participate in the first place. When I found a YouTube video of Fr. Mina's prayer just now, I declined to share it because it is marred by viewer comments about how we shouldn't be "preached to" by someone who looks like they are going to blow up the surrounding suburbs (Fr. Mina, in common with most Coptic Orthodox priests, has a long beard, wears the black 'galabeya' robe, talks with an Egyptian Arabic accent, etc.), so I don't want to overstate how rosy things are, but surely it is better to have reached a level of visibility where this is even possible than to remain a distrusted foreign element in the USA, even if some still see us that way, out of fear of anything 'Middle Eastern' or for whatever other reason. I don't think it would be right if we were to turn around and react that way to other people because they are likewise members of non-USA-based religions. This isn't a compromise on our Christian identity or theology, either, as we certainly would not accept such prayer in our churches or monasteries, but neither the US congress or this RNC event are a church or a monastery. If that's what you're expecting, then like the OP says, there's really no political party out there for you. The RNC is most definitely not a Christian organization.

Has it occurred to you that, unlike Christianity, these other religions don't have a morbid fixation on sin?

What do you make of the convention entertaining a prayer to this.... figure.?
-
That they know the christains have no where to go (except 3rd parties). So the leadership (RNC) will do as it pleases and the republican christian just will have to make excuses and complain hold their noses, etc... and support whoever they are given.

Well, I think it's very, very hypocritical and self-serving (for votes) (until they are elected, etc), as we know that's not most of theirs personal convictions, etc.

And one should not acknowledge or pray to any other "figure" that is not just only the one of their own personal convictions. (especially just to get votes until the election is over, etc) (when all will change, etc)

If anything, they should just come out of the closet as atheists, etc.

Or just pray to the god of the power, or the dollar, or whatever, etc.

God Bless.

I agree, the morbid fixation is a problem, and can be counterproductive, etc.

But any religion that doesn't see sin/bad/evil as a problem, isn't improving or helping anyone in the way of justice, etc.

God Bless.

Well, sins can be forgiven, but we must try to repent of our sins. We must also forgive others who sin.

Luke 17:3-4 (NIV): "So watch yourselves.“If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. Even if they sin against you seven times in a day and seven times come back to you saying ‘I repent,’ you must forgive them.”"

John 8:10-11 (NIV): "Jesus straightened up and asked her, ‘Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?’ ‘No one, sir,’ she said. “Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. ‘Go now and leave your life of sin.’"

Anyway, Dhillon has already proven her most important allegiance.

Trump legal adviser Harmeet Dhillon looked at Powell’s legal challenge and went on a lengthy Twitter thread zeroing in on some of the most serious allegations.
...
“These are serious allegations, and maybe the evidence (some of it filed and some of it under seal provisionally) will persuade. Either of these big themes would be enough to change the election results given the narrow margin for Biden,” wrote Dhillon.
