James 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2 works salvationist love parroting James 2:14-26 but they never talk about James 2:10. If they are correct an James 2 is about works salvation then they better keep the entire law perfectly! otherwise they break all of it. the reality is James 2 is about having a profitable faith before men, not before God. works justify us before men, not God. Man can only see your works, so if you have no works, your faith is not profitable to others, it is dead. but it still exists and will save you if you trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation, Jesus paid it all to be saved.

Titus 3:5-8 “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

6 Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

See how there is a distinction between being saved (faith alone, vs. doing works that are profitable unto man)

Romans 4:2-8 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.

3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

see that Romans 4 clearly tells us that Abraham was justified by works before man, when he offered Isaac on the alter, and he hath whereof to glory before man, but not before God. Don't let James 2ers take 14-26 out of context to teach a false gospel. there are dozens of verses saying salvation is faith alone without any works. Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

This why you read cover to cover and do not let people fool you or hit you with these verses that are ripped out of context. trust the clear promises that God has made, like John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John 6:47 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

Romans 3:20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Galatians 2:21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.

The other thing with James that makes salvation just... impossible if it were to be based on your actions

James 4
17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

in other words, if there's ever a point in your day, where you know there's something you could be doing for God and are not doing it? You're sinning.
If you're sick, if you're wiped out tired but you could be knocking on people's doors door to door to share the gospel, well you'd better be doing that., or you're sinning.
This verse here, expands the definition of sin to not just a checklist of negative behaviors you avoid, and not even just avoiding negative thoughts.. but the absence of doing the exact perfect thing you should be doing in that moment.. which none of us can do perfectly..
it's sin.
It's what spells out what sin really is, it's not just a violation of this law or that.
It's "missing the mark" and the mark is perfection.

Nobody can do that, nobody can claim to be perfect.. and thus, everyone needs a savior.

James 2 goes along with what Moses and Paul said about the law and how much we had to keep.

Deut 27: 16
Cursed is the one who does not confirm all the words of this law by observing them.’ “And all the people shall say, ‘Amen!’ ”

Gal 3: 10

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.

Because Israel was to be set aside in Acts 28:25-28 ,

And Saul / Paul was to go and preach to the Gentiles in Acts 28:28 , the Paul then Preached God's Gospel , Rom 1:1 where Christ SEPARATED // APHORIZO which means Paul was LIMITED to only preach God's Gospel.

And we know from James 1:1 Who James is writing to , To the 12 tribes Scattered Abroad , Greeting

And we know from Phil 3:5 that Saul was Concerning the Law a Pharisee and concerning the LAW FAULTLESS , so why did Saul leave the MOSIAC Law ?
Because the mosaic law could not save him. It can;t and never saved anyone. Paul made this clear in his letter to the galatian church

10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them.” 11 But that no one is [d]justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.
13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

9 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. 20 Now a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one.

21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not! For if there had been a law given which could have given life, truly righteousness would have been by the law. 22 But the Scripture has confined all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. 23 But before faith came, we were kept under guard by the law, kept for the faith which would afterward be revealed. 24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. 25 But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor.

The law could not save saul, But it did prove to him his sinfulness, and as such, led him to christ. so he is no longer under the law

Um no, This is not why.. Salvation in all ages was through the faith of Abraham. when we have that faith, we are saved

Rom 4:
13 For the promise that he would be the heir of the world was not to Abraham or to his seed through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect, 15 because the law brings about wrath; for where there is no law there is no transgression.

16 Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be [d]sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all 17 (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did; 18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” 19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. 20 He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. 22 And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

23 Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, 24 but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, 25 who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.
