  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    What are you listening to?

    James Comey Indicted... again... for...

An actual conservative publications take. "Embarrassingly, the Department of Justice indicted James Comey for a stupid social media post with shells in the pattern of the numbers 86 47. 86, as in “get rid of,” and 47 as in the 47th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump... ...This is...

What do people here think of metal?

They definitely changed from being a Christian metal band to a band that likely has some Christians in it. I wouldn't say they abandoned the faith. Some of them have questioned their faith, or perhaps the way it was taught to them. Their harsh vocalist has discussed struggling with his faith...

What do people here think of metal?

And yet you have Christian metal bands and in the more secular arena metal bands with Christians in them. The Devil Wears Prada is one such band. From "John, What's Your Name Again" I'm going to hope for you I'm going to pray for you amongst the wreckless and the black Salvation lies within I'm...

Trump Posts Jesus-Like Picture of Himself Performing Miracle on Sick Man, Minutes After Ramping Up Feud With Pope Leo

Reading some comments brought this to mind. Relevant since the image is clearly blasphemous. Rev 3 "I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

Trump Posts Jesus-Like Picture of Himself Performing Miracle on Sick Man, Minutes After Ramping Up Feud With Pope Leo

We’ve got to get that really cool miraculous light coming out of their healing hands to be part of the uniform also! (Dang, somebody beat me to it)

Trump Posts Jesus-Like Picture of Himself Performing Miracle on Sick Man, Minutes After Ramping Up Feud With Pope Leo

In this particular case, I doubt the Pope despises Trump. A disagreement based on biblical principles is more what I think we have here. Now I will grant Trump may think the Pope despises him as he appears to take every disagreement as a personal attack which he then increases orders of...

Trump Posts Jesus-Like Picture of Himself Performing Miracle on Sick Man, Minutes After Ramping Up Feud With Pope Leo

Galatians 6:6-10 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor. 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to...

‘A whole civilisation will die tonight,’ Trump warns ahead of Iran deadline

Much as I hate to admit it, at this point there is only one way to rein him in, and that won’t happen until November (really January). The once conservative Republican Party has totally abdicated their responsibility. This type of horrific (lack of) leadership makes it imperative that either the...

What’s the best way to retire?

My wife is retired. I have about 6 more years. I think retirement without purpose, a life of leisure, would be disappointing. A purpose and mission adds life to retirement. My wife is big on the idea of “encore careers”. Do something that brings you joy. She loves travel and fitness and music...

    Feminism - definition

I think it's more than a lack of imagination or openness (though many here do have those). I see a sense of nihilism that has overtaken us on many issues - people feel there is no point in tearing down a lacking system since they have no real hope what follows would be better. It results in us...

    All That Matters by Skillet

I saw Skillet last night at the House of Blues, so definitely a mixed crowd of both Christians and non-Christians. They didn't do All That Matters, but they were very open about their faith. More than half of their songs were older, including Monster. Pretty much every song points towards faith...

Christian Artists you heard as a kid?

Skillet for sure is still around. In a very nostalgic moment, I'm seeing them in concert tonight - sold out show. They alternate between doing Christian events (like Winter Jam) and playing secular hard rock festivals and tours. I still listen to several other heavier bands that were Christian...

    Feminism - definition

I believe "feminism" is one of those words that has so many different meanings now that you can't really know what a person who uses it means without context. Often if someone says "feminism" without context, I have to ask them what they mean. There are other words like that, "love" for example...
