  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God did not create from nothing

By all means convince me by providing the evidence that (a) the sandstone formations do cover continents, (b) that the formations extend to other continents (c) and, most important evidence that all of those sandstone formations have the composition, grain shape and angularity, size...

God did not create from nothing

Excellent, objective, reasoned summation of the situation. Unfortunately excellent, objective, reasoned summations are likely considered by some to be some form of science fiction.

Hypocrisy is often the subject of criticism.

God did not create from nothing

I refer you to @Hans Blaster post #236. This addresses your points succinctly and comprehensively. In that post, or possibly one of the others in your exchange with Hans, you mention a minimum requirement of being accorded respect for doubting the efficacy of carbon dating given all of the...

Trump fired the entire National Science Board yesterday!

My impression is that the current administration do not consider any law relevant if it interferes with their desires, hence they have the power to do whatever they wish. Had I pursued my original life plan I would have studied the geochemistry of certain aspects of volcanicity. I certainly...

God did not create from nothing

Let me ask, how dumb are you? The ability to read and write is largely dependent on the culture - is reading and writing (a) common, (b) necessary? You appear to think there is an equivalence between the ability to write and intelligence, not a relationship, an equivalence. Factoid; people who...

God did not create from nothing

This is astonishingly absurd, even for you. The presence of literacy suggests a certain level of intelligence, the absence of literacy says almost nothing about intelligence. Until recently, even in terms of a 6,000 year old Earth, very few people could write. Writing was less common than...

Trump fired the entire National Science Board yesterday!

If the objective is to contribute to the destruction of humanity's future, then you have to give grudging admiration to the brilliance of the planned mechanisms for achieving the goal. If there is some other intent, then a massive raspberry is the appropriate response.

Since you have chosen to use an AI, I respond with an AI. It systematically dismantled your seven "arguments". First my prompt. To what extent are these criticisms of carbon dating valid? <Your Text> And here is the summary of the response: If these seven statements are intended to argue that...

God did not create from nothing

Despite an excessively large ego I must defer expressing any view either way. I cannot read Hebrew; I have never read a single book, or academic article by any expert on the significance of that, or any other passage in Genesis. My primary exposure to the passage is what you would expect of any...

God did not create from nothing

I am not sure that @Job 33:6 has ever expressed an opinion on the age of the universe. His posts have focused on the alternative interpretations of the words of Genesis. This imagined conformance with a (in your view, corrupt) scientific position is ill conceived. You seem to be tilting at...

God did not create from nothing

Please walk me through it. In what way are these observations evidence that @Job 33:6 is basing his comments on science? And Job has given a clear explanation of his motivation and reasoning, an explanation that has a clarity, precision and conviction that your own assertions lack.

God did not create from nothing

You are assuming, with minimal evidence, what Job's motivation for posting is. Job has provided clearly stated, objective reasons, based exclusively on his interpretation of the Biblical text. His interpretation may be incorrect, but it is neither a theological interpretation, nor a scientific...

God did not create from nothing

I don't think he ever claimed, implicitly or explicitly, that they were theological arguments. They are Biblical arguments, inasmuch they consider the meaning of certain passages taking into account context and usage. In that regard they are semantic and literary explorations of Biblical text...

    The Faint Young Sun Paradox

And yet you endlessly pontificate about all the many things whose mechanisms, methods and conclusions you don't understand and generally have no interest in understanding. From the perspective of my slightly off-centre normality it looks a mighty peculiar way to conduct a life. No. Calling it...
