  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

    Is gambling on stocks sinful?

I've spent 7 months of my life gambling, made $20,000 luckily, then I lost it, then I made $6,000. Everyone in my family tells me to stop now and just be happy with the money, I want to gamble one more time, however. I treated this thing like a full time job. I don't think God could bless this...

What happens if you can't tell which denomination is right?

Could it cause problems with salvation if someone was a Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Protestant, and one of them had it right and not the others? Or does it not compromise someone's salvation at all? this has been the source of my anxiety for a long time.

Did Judas commit the unforgivable sin?

Some denominations would have it a mystery about Judas fate in the afterlife. He did seem sorry, but I don't know. He ended up dying by his own choice. Could God had forgiven him and cure his depression or misery? Or had he went too far that is was too late?

Or does this not exist, I am trying to learn the Bible and Christian history without it being through a perspective of a particular denomination only, but learning it in a way that it will be agreed to be true from all denominations. I have learned that the Romans protected Apostle Paul when he...

Bible study online vs in person

What are the pros and cons to each. Especially for those in remote locations, what are they missing if they don't go to a Bible study in person. I do like to be around people, so I will be missing that.

People who dedicate their lives to study the Bible, how far do they get when it comes to knowledge?

I know this will be dependent on when they started, and how old they go to live, time dedicated to studying, and also how fast they can absorb information, some people are information sponges. If I at 28 years old decided to study the Bible full, time what can I expect on how much information...

Should we treat life that at any moment can be our last?

After hearing about stories about how young people are diagnosed with a terminal illness and they only have months to live, it got me wondering. There is no guarantee of a long healthy life, no idea if the next week could be anyone's last days on Earth if it's because a car accident or anything...

Every year, I take a considerable amount of time to learn about a new denomination. This year is dedicated to the Anabaptists

I have learned about the Catholics, Eastern Orthodox, Baptists, Lutherans, Reformed, Pentecostals. What's next is the Anglicans, Episcopalians, and I'm sure there are much more. There are too many for me to study I can get overloaded with information, so I'll try to stick to the largest...
