  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Leo XIV Approves Beatification Process for Bishop who Allowed Indigenous Youths to Touch his Private Parts

From the Church that covered up paedo clergy crimes, we now have this. If a pervert like this can be a fit person to be called Venerable, one has to wonder what monsters of iniquity the Church has been declaring Venerable, Blessed, or Sainted during the last few centuries. The Church’s...

Ellen White: Meat eating weakens moral powers

STM that Mrs White would have difficulty showing that vegetarians are notably more godly, virtuous, or intelligent that meat-eaters. Though Rice Krispies (and other cereals) are something to be grateful for. But that was Kellogg’s idea.

If The World Ended Right Now, Would You Be Saved? Eph 2:1-10

The world is not ending this very instant, for most people, so for most people the question is pretty pointless. And there is far more to Christianity than narcissistic navel-gazing about whether one is “saved”, or not. The Christian life is not primarily about being saved. The Gospel is...

How much of the Bible do you guys know?

Being wealthy is not a sin. Being dirt-poor is no evidence of righteousness. A Prosperity Gospel-in-reverse is no truer or better than what it reverses. Both, not just the Prosperity Gospel, are theologically defective.

How much of the Bible do you guys know?

Know, in what sense ? I know plenty of trivia about it; the names & order of most of the books; what most of them are about; their likely dates of composition; & so on. i have not read quite all of it.

How can a Lion Eat Straw?

The passage is figurative; not a primer on mammalian diet. Flat-footed literalism is one of the worst possible methods for understanding books that are full of figurative language.

Pope Leo XIV appoints Cardinal Cupich to Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State

The one person who seems to come well out of this, is Senator Durbin.

Pope Leo XIV expels deacon from the clerical state for abuse of minors

Clerics - of any and every rank - who abuse minors, should be: - degraded from the clergy, in the old manner; not merely "laicised", which is insulting nonsense - denied the Sacraments even at the moment of death - excommunicated Men have been burnt alive for less. Modern paedos are treated...

Would Jesus Condemn the Rosary? Jesus condemns ‘vain repetition’ in prayer . . . but Catholics also have the rosary.

Psalm 136 is full of repetitions. Repetition is not forbidden. Vain piling up of words - a common Evangelical practice - is what is forbidden. https://biblehub.com/esv/psalms/136.htm

The "Church Fathers" Scriptural or Not

Translation: Catholicism is the satanic Babylonian Mystery Religion, Jesus hates Catholics, and the Church apostatised in the first century AD. Ayyyyymen Hallelujah Praise the Lord Praise Jeebus and Pass the Ammunition. None of this is new. It’s vintage Jack Chick.

God is the source of human rights, not government

This is a typically ignorant USA superstition, and typical Fundy thinking (which has deeply contaminated & defiled US Catholicism, sad to say). Rights come partly from God, and partly from the State. Sometimes they agree or overlap, and sometimes they do not. The stuff in the US constitution...

Gibbons Decline & Fall & Christianity

That must be why Damasus of Rome asked Jerome to translate the NT from Greek into Latin: in order to hide its meaning from Latin-speaking Christians ! How very efficient ! Because the purpose of translation is to hide the meaning of what is translated. Obviously.
