  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do atheists constantly change the goalposts?

And it's the myths which form the bases upon which religious concepts are built. I'd say that even the Divine experience of Christ Himself can be caught in the inner essence of a turtle.

Do atheists constantly change the goalposts?

I don't know if you would agree or not, but the way I see it is that when the Divine touches ones' heart, that's when God becomes alive in a person. And when watching the video it was clear that the picture of the inner experience of the Divine within other religions wasn't addressed at all. The...

Do atheists constantly change the goalposts?

I don't think so. That war and the myth that grew around it was not about the Divine experience or of the bringing the experience of God to earth.

Do atheists constantly change the goalposts?

The quality of Love that Christians find in Jesus is also found within those of other spiritual paths. It's interesting, at least to me, in the way that Divine Compassionate Love can not be limited. Myth stores as they are retold are a way of pointing us to things like the Divine experience that...

Is this the real reality? What do you believe or think?

The mystics of the various world religions have a somewhat varied experience of reality. It has to do with consciousness and like you say "what we observe". They observe existence a bit different than most of us. That kinda of sounds like Panentheism to me. Not to be confused with Pantheism.

Do atheists constantly change the goalposts?

The OP asks if Jesus was a historical person. There's nothing in the OP asking about Divinity or Jesus as God.

    Empathy

It's when I put myself into the gay community and see how they have been oppressed (even with death) that I begin to feel empathy for their plight as human beings. I'm unable to know the infinite divine compassion of Jesus and not feel a deep empathy for the situation that those in the gay...

Christian nationalist pastor McPherson: "Empathy is aligned with hell."

Is it societies common moral values that is at issues? Or certain Christian beliefs being pushed by a more politically engaged sect.

Do atheists constantly change the goalposts?

I think this is all true not only for those who left Christianity and became atheist, but I think it also hits home for many of us who went elsewhere for spiritual understanding.

Do atheists constantly change the goalposts?

Evidence of God is a personal experience. In that regard the Bible is about one's relationship with the Divine. It's not meant to be evidence of God. From what I've seen in this forum is the acceptance that Jesus is a historical person. I've not seen anyone deny that reality. With Biblical...

Shaped by ancient humans, 430,000-year-old wooden tools are the oldest ever found

Through the years I'm been on this forum, I watched many attempts by YEC's to throw into question various dating methods. All they have proven to me is how deeply they have absolutely no clue how dating labs operate. I've watched many attempts to "play around with the half life of materials" and...

Christian nationalist pastor McPherson: "Empathy is aligned with hell."

Wasn't all of that not from Jesus but from Paul?

Is this the real reality? What do you believe or think?

In the world I'm familiar with which is geology, science has been able to explain quite a bit. The thing is, what the Earth itself is showing us paints a very different picture than what Genesis show.

    Serious Denial

    Pretty sad.

Christian nationalist pastor McPherson: "Empathy is aligned with hell."

I don't see that a gay Christian or even a gay Minister as being secular. Far from it. Both worship Jesus. And one even teaches Jesus. But along the same lines, I'm also unable to see the empathy that a Church might feel for those whom their religion has oppressed and wanting to correct that...
