  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

An Un-asked For Street Debate In Greece

where was this interview/interrogation? The background looks like Greece (or somewhere eastern Mediterranean), but the signage is all in English. The priest has an American sounding accent, and the woman has a British sounding accent. edit: ah, I see the Greek flag, and the thread title says it...

An Un-asked For Street Debate In Greece

the sad thing is that the obsession over the crucifixion and atonement theology has left such a bad taste in my mouth, I find it quite cheapening of the faith. True, Christ died, true he died a horrid death. So too did many many people, some of which would have been innocent of their...

    St Catherine's Monastery Land Nationalization

strange place for a tourism resort, generally they're along the coast and connected by public transport (airplanes). The hotels are over a mile from the monastery. If people are to visit, and the monks are able to manage visitors, this is a potentially wonderful witness of the faith.

3 teenagers in critical condition after Colorado high school shooting

how awful. Strength to the victims, their families, classmates, and teachers. If only it were so easy as to repeal gun laws, but if people want to hurt each other, they'll find a way. The UK has issues with knife crime in schools. Moral accountability and respect are what is needed, old...

    The Orthodox stayed true

I'm not entirely sure what the thesis of this thread is, but I love a good map, and anything cartographic in general. European tribes in the early middle ages is a fascinating thing to study. You may find the history of the church in the British Isles quite interesting. Being at the edge of the...

    Canonical penalties

I imagine (hopingly) that the society afforded such spiritual support, so that penitents were able to bear the task of these rules.

Disturbing and Once Again, Another Grave Error Via the GOC Archbishop

my priest is gluten intolerant. I'll have to ask him, but as far as I'm aware, the prosphora bread is the usual sort.

St. Euphrosynos Taverna and Ouzeri (another one!)

The "Orthobro" Movement Makes Orthodoxy Look Bad...But Are They Heretical?

Nothing new. We've all been there. Some of us had better guidance than others.

St. Euphrosynos Taverna and Ouzeri (another one!)

best metal band of the '90s? I assume you mean the 1890s, in which case, it undoubtedly is Sousa. Now if we're talking the '60s, Wagner all the way. Verdi was active at the time but I find him hit and miss.

Bilocation, stigmata and other Saints miracles

Outrageous (though not surprising) St. David of Wales famously denounced Pelagius at the Synod of Brefi. The site of which proved perhaps the most superfluous of miracles. Whilst preaching, the earth arose beneath him so people could see him better...in Wales. If there is anywhere which has no...

Bilocation, stigmata and other Saints miracles

as a general rule, if you experience a miracle, be extremely cautious. On a jollier note, I related to a friend how at the paschal vigil there was a great rumbling noise like thunder when the holy fire appeared. My friend visited the same church a couple of weeks later and informed me that their...
