Witnessing

Acts 4:24,31 (NKJV)
24 So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You are God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them
31 And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.

Prayer is the heavy lifting for witnessing to others. Pause and think about it. We firstly have (by God’s grand desire, grace, and permission) the open door to speak to God. In turn, there are appointed moments where by act, comportment, and word, we prayerfully shine the light of the Gospel before men.

That we witness to God must remain our first priority. We do this by professing our praise of and admiration for Him. The Holy Spirit then bears witness with ours that our testimony is true and here remains a certainty that we are that City on a Hill** as described by Jesus.

Citizens from that Hill can find compassion to say what country they belong to—and to encourage others to enter in.
___________
* Romans 8:16-19 (NKJV)
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
** Matthew 5:14,16 (NKJV)
14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
