Trump's anti-immigration drive needs to be a bit more discriminating. Native Americans report being detained by ICE and asked if they were in the US legally:
The attack on DEI continues. It is ridiculous imho.
Diversity - we are a melting pot nation with many nationalities and ethinic groups, encompassing the wide variety of homosapians this world has.
Equity - People working the same job for the same period of time should be making the same money, whether they are white, black, asian, Indian, Native American or mixed. Equity refers to distributing resources and opportunities based on each person’s needs, looking at all people as equally deserving of help.
Inclusion - Welcoming, supporting and respecting diverse people in decision-making involving the government that affects them.
It boils down to the Golden Rule - Treat others as you would like others to treat you. Jesus did not say "Treat others who look like you and believe as you do as you would like to be treated by them.
In my opinion, the opposite of DEI is white supremacy. No, I am not saying that all who are opposing DEI are white supremacists and racist.
This brings us to the airline crash this week at Reagan International Airport. Trump very quickly blamed it on other things, including DEI. He claimed that Biden and Obama wanted jobs given to those with low mental skills, psychiatric issues and disabilities, as if the FAA did not demand certain skills and abilities in pilots and air traffic controllers.
He lied quite a bit.

But the biggest and most dangerous to democracy has to do with remaking the federal government as Vance, Trump and Musk want to do. I will discuss that next.

Trump’s claim was repeated in an executive order Trump signed Thursday that ordered a review of aviation safety: “During my first term, my Administration raised standards to achieve the highest standards of safety and excellence.”
That’s false. In his first term, Trump left the standards unchanged.
For air traffic controllers, the Obama administration in 2013 instituted a new hiring system that introduced a biographical questionnaire to attract minorities, underrepresented in the controller corps. The program was criticized, such as in a Fox News report in 2015, as making it harder for more skilled applicants to get hired as controllers.
But Trump, in his first term, left the policy in place, leading to a class-action lawsuit filed in 2019 by Mountain States Legal Foundation. The case was due to go to trial this year.
Moreover, the FAA under Trump in 2019 launched a program to hire controllers using the very criteria he decried at his news conference.
