Say What?
Ever talk on the phone only to find that as the battery power gets low, or the further we are from the receiver, static interference makes it difficult to hear what the person on the other end is saying? That can be what our past associations are like. It is as if we each have our own personal dictionaries by which we translate information. Then, our wires get crossed and we can experience static electricity.
For instance, our use of the word "obedience" may be misconstrued as promoting legalism and provoke a negative response when what we actually meant was "following the Holy Spirit's lead and walking in the Light He has given us".
Sometimes it isn't even apparent why our words receive the reactions they do, we just know something is amiss along the communication lines.
The next time you find yourself conversing with
As they share their perception, we may come to an awareness that the static on the phone may have been sparked by a difference in translation, and further fueled by the electrical currents running through the wires of our past associations.
If our communication is grounded and enlivened by our past associations instead of the life of Jesus, it will darken our view. Spiritually speaking, we can experience deafness, dumbness, and blindness brought on by static electricity.
To avoid electrical combustions of our own making, It is most important to remain in Christ. In Him we will find deliverance and healing from our negative past associations and hear into the sound waves of his Heart.
