  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Right Or Wrong?

What is right and wrong? In these troubled times, this question appears to be subjective, as in everyone has their own view of right and wrong.

I've seen many different views on morals and actions among other Christians. Unfortunately, some of us are actually too far to one side: either believing that anything not specifically Christian is wrong or being okay with things that the Bible clearly states are wrong. What we really should believe is right and wrong is the same things that God sees as right and wrong.

So what is right and wrong in God's eyes? To find that out, you need to study Scripture (and Tradition if you follow it). Try looking at different translations, if you like. Also remember that there are issues now that did not exist back in Biblical times and so may not be mentioned in the Bible. About these issues, and any others you might feel unsure about, pray for guidance instead of worrying about whether they're right or wrong. God can show you the difference between true right and wrong.

Finally, remember that other people may not always know the difference between true right and wrong. We must pray for them and try to help them understand without judging in the wrong ways. Don't tell people they are bad or not Christian because they do any specific thing (that's not wrong) or belong to any specific denomination. We also need to remember something often terribly misunderstood these days: loving someone does not mean agreeing with everything they say or do, and disagreeing with anything someone says or does is not hatred. Hate the sin, love the sinner.
