Living in a Fantasy World

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.” (Romans 1:18-23 NASB1995)

Largely because the gospel of our salvation has undergone a massive overhauling, in that so many people are teaching that a mere verbal profession of faith in Jesus Christ is enough to get one saved and secured heaven for eternity, many who profess the name of Jesus are still walking in sin, still living for the flesh, still charting their own course, still making their own decisions about how they want to live their lives, regardless of what the Scriptures teach that God requires of us who profess his name.

And then we live in a day and time when we are being bombarded left and right with all sorts of potential temptations to go the ways of the world and to reject the ways of the Lord. And with the inventions of smartphones, in particular, everyone who has one of those devices, even children, have full access to the whole world of evil at their finger tips in the privacy of their rooms or even in a crowded room sitting in a corner where no one can see what they are looking at. And so much of that is unfathomable.

And so many people are being taken captive by this fantasy world of TV shows, movies, and cartoons, and so much that is entertainment to keep their minds occupied and distracted and wandering off in all sorts of directions, that it is becoming their reality instead of real life. And God gets forgotten and pushed aside while the flesh ends up ruling and controlling, instead. And so they live in a world that they design rather than living the life that God has designed for them to live, in his power, by faith in him.

And so the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of humankind who suppress the truth in unrighteousness. Many who have been taught the Scriptures and who have even been or still are teachers of the Scriptures, including many pastors, have fallen by the wayside, and they are practicing ungodliness and unrighteousness rather than the godliness and righteousness of God which God has designed for us who profess his name. For they are listening to the world and not to God.

And then many of them end up teaching an altered and diluted gospel message which gives the sinner permission to keep on in his sin, only without feelings of guilt or remorse for his sin. And if they begin to feel guilty for their sin, many are telling them to just “claim who you are in Christ,” even though they may not be in Christ at all, and are not in Christ if sin is what they practice, and if righteousness and obedience to God are not what they practice. So they profess Jesus as Lord but he is not Lord of their lives.

And it isn’t just those who have been taught the Scriptures who are without excuse. But they are all people who suppress the truth about God by their ungodly and unrighteous deeds, who are knowledgeable as to the existence of God and who he is because God has revealed himself to all humankind via his created works. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible attributes, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so they are without excuse.

But it is especially grievous that so many who know what the Scriptures teach, and who have taught them themselves, are now living in sin, in deliberate and habitual sin, engaged in all sorts of immoral acts in direct defiance to God and to his commandments. So it isn’t that they don’t know that what they are doing is wrong. They know! But they choose the lusts of their flesh over obedience to God and to his commands, and they honor the flesh instead of honoring God with their lives. And this is so very sad!

God is now calling out to all people who fit the description in this passage of Scripture, and through the teachings of the Scriptures, taught in their appropriate context, and not out of context, to repent of (turn from) their sins and to now surrender their lives to him and to follow him in his ways according to his New Covenant commands. For if sin is your practice, and not obedience to God and holy living, at the end of your life you will not inherit eternal life with God, even if you profess faith in Jesus, for he will say, “I never knew you. Depart from me you workers of lawlessness.”

For Our Nation

Bombs are bursting. Night is falling.
Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.
Trust Him with your life today.
Make Him your Lord and your Savior.
Turn from your sin. Follow Jesus.
He will forgive you of your sin;
Cleanse your heart, made new within.

Men betraying: Our trust fraying.
On our knees to God we’re praying,
Seeking God to give us answers
That are only found in Him.
God is sovereign over all things.
Nothing from His mind escaping.
He has all things under His command,
And will work all for good.

Jesus Christ is gently calling
You to follow Him in all ways.

Men deceiving: We’re believing
In our Lord, and interceding
For our nation and its people
To obey their God today.
He is our hope for our future.
For our wounds He offers suture.
He is all we need for this life.
Trust Him with your life today.
