  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Peaces of Heaven: Pardon, Cleansing, Friendly God— Our new heart’s birthright. Friend,* He ever was, For us, but our pride forbade Him touching to heal. God, He ever Is, Deigning to be one of us. Now? Christmas cure still! _________ * John 15:15
(below, I refer to earnest prayers from the hearts of honest saints) God’s answer is “Yes”, yes to His will, Even if we send Him erroneous news. He knows our hearts, of the pilgrim sort And thankfully edits our journalistic quotes, For try as we may, the objective eludes, Seeing as through a...
(After viewing the leaf-strewn, wooded area in the back yard, a day after Thanksgiving) Near woods, unashamed, Regal trees above downed leaves, Years-old timber lay. Too early to dream? Not to those who know green comes As sure as frost came. John’s new Heaven,^ near: The fallenness shouts...

Judges 7:4-7 (NKJV - bold text is mine) 4 But the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to...

A stranger’s wonder at the shame of Jeshurun,* bare stare at the Cross. At a Friend’s stretched arms, Wracked hands that once clapped with joy. Convulsions from pain. (1) At a brother’s brow, Blood and carpenter’s sweat mix. Father, Joseph, spared.** (2) Feet like his mother’s, Once swaddled...
I am not exaggerating when I say that I am undergoing a shaking. I am one of a group lay folk who each give a Bible study to Spanish speakers. My presentation is more like a sermon. I have, in a sense, felt pruned in preparing for these. I have been writing and writing my words. For many...
(...thinking about the New Jerusalem at the End of the Age) Psalm 87:1-3 (NKJV) 1 His foundation is in the holy mountains. 2 The Lord loves the gates of Zion More than all the dwellings of Jacob. 3 Glorious things are spoken of you, O city of God! Selah Glorious things are spoken of you, O...

Every church movement, every local church, has their challenges. Left to purely human reasoning, there are things that can feel restricting, too slow to bloom to fruit—and dare we say it (?), too slow to conform to our expectations...however close our impatient convictions might accurately...
(1) Carry their gear, (2) Instruments of war? Unclean! (3) An even worse came. (4) A stake for a curse, (5) God bid me to feel its weight. (6) I added to it! (7)Yes, my transgression, (8) Then Judea's, the nations’. (9) No “Poor Cyrenian!” (10) At hilltop, I dropped. (11) Once nails pierced...

Too often, a woeful picture is drawn that depicts the followers of Messiah Jesus as fearful and dejected on that Pentecost day, before the Holy Spirit fell on them, as had been prophesied by Joel. The biblical narrative shows a different demeanor, one of joy—with a hope that was fulfilled...

(all Scriptures cited in my comments and the table below are from the NIV-1984. The bold is mine) From the flow of the Scriptures in the table below, going from the left to right columns, we get a clear picture of how our heavenly Father communicated to Israel and the world about what it means...

What the serpent (Satan) said to Eve in the Garden of Eden: 2 The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' " 4 "You will...
Zeal for the Word, Our souls bought first, So that when pages turn, bright margins appear. There, context explains God’s fresh notes of faith. Remembering the Word, How life from it burns, Shows roads from the past, For each pilgrim’s progress.* Such templates make knees To touch floors...
When pondering the enslavement of Joseph and his rise to power in Egypt, I find my myself sympathetic to Potiphar--his being deceived by his wife and his unwitting punishment of Joseph. In what follows, I imagine Potiphar's wife coming to grips with her connivances as she attempts to mollify...
Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV-bold mine) 20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. James 4:31 (NKJV-bold mine) 3 You ask...
John 2:1-11 describes Jesus' first miracle, "The Wedding at Cana". Below, a musing about verses 3-5 (NKJV, bold is mine) 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.” 4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not...
There are some interesting contrasts and parallels between the Gospel narrative concerning John the Baptizer (John 1) and the Pharisee named Nicodemus (John 3). All Scripture quotes are from the NASB-1995. Apostle John’s description of John the Baptist, Jesus, and the spiritual battle...
It is true that “we love him [God] because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Consequently, the children of God have the privilege of praying intimately to Him. That is, we can actually talk to Him. Regarding His initiative to communicate with us and His longing for us to know Him, The Bible...
I prayed today, in earthbound syllables, unlike the angelic kind, mine miraculous as the upper room languages, for I prayed believing Christ would interpret them right: as for intent, as for need, although bundled with emotions wrapped around truths He has shown us. Lord, how encouraging! You...
