Sometimes within the seeming simplicity of what I read, in the Bible, awesomeness of God's
direct, written revelation is acknowledged but not given an immediate place to
render a stirring of my heart. Call it my humanness, frailty--even too harsh of a
self-assessment, the fact is that I know that reverence can be subordinated to
or crowded by a mental assent if I am not watchful. My awareness of this surfaced
full-bore today while I pondered 1 John 2:8 . . .
On the other hand, I am writing a new commandment to you, which is true in Him and
in you, because the darkness is passing away and the true Light is already shining (NASB1995)
Picturing myself as John, I asked 'myself', "Why am I writing this? Yes, of course, it is new--ah, yes, it is
because God loved us first. Before revelation, there is action! Grace! The first evidence of that
'action' into newness was the incarnation of Messiah, then the fulfilment of prophecies concerning
His miracles, redeeming crucifixion, burial, resurrection and ascension into Heaven as our Intercessor!
A new dawn--already shining on us! Thus, under His sovereignty, I write. The new commandment is bursting
into full LIght. I may write, others may read. May they worship God for truth brought to us, born in
us, and glorified through us by the power of His Holy Spirit"
