✝️ We Cannot Give Ourselves Spiritual Life — Only Jesus Decides That

’ — . And perhaps that’s why so few are on the narrow path, while so many follow the wide one. Too often, we rely on head knowledge rather than a humble heart that is open to God’s simple truths.

Understanding grows when we keep it simple.

Many of those who followed Jesus were not highly educated—and Jesus often used simple, clear words to explain His purpose.
In this post, we will look at John 5:21 the way it was meant to be understood:

“Son = Gives = Life — We cannot!”

What Does It Really Mean to Be Spiritually Alive?

Many people think they can “choose” God or “decide” to follow Jesus on their own. But the Bible teaches something very different.

According to John 5:21, we are spiritually dead until Jesus gives us life. Just like we cannot raise ourselves from physical death, we cannot give ourselves spiritual life.

Bible Truth from John 5:21

“Just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it.”
(John 5:21)
This verse tells us something powerful:
Spiritual life is not something we create or choose — it is a gift from Jesus Christ.

Easy Explanation of John 5:21

Let’s look at what this verse means in simple, clear steps:

1. “The Father raises the dead and gives them life”

This shows that only God has the power to bring the dead back to life—whether physically or spiritually.

2. “So the Son gives life to anyone He wants to”

This means Jesus has the same power as God the Father. He decides who will receive spiritual life.

♂️ What Does “Spiritual Life” Mean?

Spiritual life is when your heart is changed by God. It means:

  • You begin to truly believe in Jesus
  • You start to love God
  • You want to turn away from sin
  • You understand and respond to God’s Word
This is not something we do by ourselves—it is something Jesus does in us.

“It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.”
(John 6:63)

Can We Give Ourselves Spiritual Life?

No. We cannot.
We are spiritually dead until Jesus makes us alive.

Just like a dead body cannot move,
a spiritually dead person cannot come to God without Jesus first giving them life.
This is why we say:
“We cannot give ourselves spiritual life — Only Jesus decides that.”

✅ Summary in Simple Words

  • Jesus is the only one who can make people spiritually alive.
  • People are spiritually dead and cannot come to God on their own.
  • Spiritual life is a gift, not something we can earn or choose.
  • This truth gives all glory to God, not to ourselves.

Final Thought

If you feel drawn to God, it is not because of your own strength.
It is because Jesus is giving you life.

Trust in Him, seek Him, and give Him all the praise.
He is the one who gives life, and He does so in mercy and love. That is easy to understand, just read the text for what it says. Trust Jesus to be telling the truth and that He knows how to express to us the Father’s will for our lives. God bless, and have a great day/night.
