In his first season with the college team, Trevor led the College team to an undefeated regular season, a victory over Pittsburgh in the ACC Championship game, and was ranked second in the College Football Playoff rankings.
Lawrence’s professional career began in 2021 after being selected first overall by Jaguars in the NFL draft and was immediately made the starting quarterback of the team. He had an excellent season in 2022 when he led the team to their first division title and playoff win since 2017.

Apart from his prowess on the football field, Lawrence has also been in the news for religious reasons. This article aims at finding out the religious stance of Lawrence Trevor and to provide an answer to the question: Is Lawrence Trevor a Christian?
Is Lawrence Trevor Religious?

Several times, Lawrence Trevor has publicly affirmed his faith and religious beliefs and has been criticized for it. The quarterback however seems unbothered by the criticisms and hasn’t shied away, at least not yet from the public show of faith. Trevor was born into the Christian religion and still practices the faith to date.
Trevor Lawrence once disclosed that he was lost when he first arrived at Clemson College but got connected to a church and joined them for a retreat tagged “The Gauntlet.” After his experience at the retreat, Lawrence disclosed that he was “truly saved.” He said further, “I don’t think anyone has abilities for no reason. I don’t think anything is a coincidence. God gave me these things for a reason, not just talent on the field, but other opportunities to be a light to people.”
In a 2018 interview with Sports Spectrum, Trevor disclosed that faith and family are the most important things in his life and even rank higher than his football career.
“Football is important to me, but I will say it’s not my life, it’s not like the biggest thing in my life, I would say my faith is…Knowing who I am outside of that because I just know no matter how big the situation is it’s not going to define me. put my identity in what Christ says, who He thinks I am, and who I know that He says I am. At the end of the day, like I said, it doesn’t matter what people think about me, or how good a player they think I am. Whatever, it doesn’t matter”
After Trevor was selected in the 2021 NFL draft, his college (Clemson) team coach, Dabo Swinney had some positive comments to make about the quarterback. In an appearance on the Sports Spectrum, Swinney mentioned that Trevor is religion-oriented and his faith has been a significant part of his career. In his words:
“What I love about him more than anything is he’s faith-driven. He has built his life on a foundation of faith. Great mom and dad, and great people around him, but he’s strong in his faith now. He’s an inside-out kid in this world of outside-in. People are paralyzed by other people’s opinions and what some person says on social media, and all this stuff. He’s not affected by that, he isn’t. He’s got very thick skin, which you know that’s something that’s very needed if you’re going to go play quarterback in the NFL. Self-motivated, and self-driven and he’s going to set the tone the day he shows up. He’s not going to wait on anybody to set the tone for him.”
Does Trevor Lawrence believe in God?

Trevor Lawrence has been very expressive of his beliefs in God. On many occasions, he has discussed that his faith plays a fundamental role in his life and his relationship with God has helped him overcome challenges on and off the field.
On Rob Maaddi’s Christian sports talk radio show “Faith on the Field” he made some comments on his faith and belief in God. His words were;
“No matter what happens, I have my foundation, “I know who I am. … I don’t put everything into how I perform. I’m going to do everything I can to prepare and play the best I can and be ready every day. But at the end of the day, if I don’t have a great day, I’ve got to know who I am outside of the game.”
In a 2019 interview with Sports Illustrated, he asserted that God gave him talents not just to play football but to light the path for others. In his words, “I don’t think anyone has abilities for no reason. I don’t think anything is a coincidence. God gave me these things for a reason, not just talent on the field, but other opportunities to be a light to people.”
Lawrence attended “The Gauntlet” religious retreat organized by NewSpring Church in 2018 with other members of his college football team “The Tigers.” Other attendees and teammates said Lawrence was overwhelmed and got emotional when the pastor raised some inspirational and emotional songs. Lawrence was sighted raising his hands high in the air with tears rolling down his cheeks while worshiping.
After the retreat, the quarterback said, “I already believed there was a God, that was real, I never had experienced it myself. Having them kind of as a guide and seeing things and getting advice… It was me seeing that this stuff was real. I could tell.”
There are no doubts that Lawrence utterly believes in God and has not failed to express this at every given opportunity.

“We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.”

In his first year and camp at Clemson, he was baptized in a pool inside the Atrium at NewSpring Church. A 2020 Bleacher report revealed Trevors’s comment following the baptism.
He said, “When you’re in college, I feel like there’s a limit to how much you can grow on your own. And I just felt like there was always something missing. No matter what I did, or who I met, I kept coming back to that. So I decided to rededicate my life to Christ. When my head was going back [in the water], it was such a surreal moment. When I think of everything that had to happen for me to be there, I can’t even fathom it. In the end, it was this inner pull to be complete. You come out of the water, and it’s a marker of your faith. I’m not better than anyone else. I’m not perfect. I have faults. I’m broken. My faith gives me strength, and it also gives me peace. When things are crazy all around, I’m grounded in Him.”
What did Trevor Lawrence say about Jesus Christ?

Lawrence has publicly professed his beliefs in Jesus Christ and has acknowledged Christ multiple times. He disclosed that he is rededicating his life back to Christ after his baptism at NewSpring Church and later edited his Twitter bio to “Pursuing Him at all costs.” In a 2018 media round, Trevor said that faith and family are the most important things in his life and that he is Who Jesus says he is. According to the quarterback, “I put my identity in what Christ says, who He thinks I am and who I know that He says I am”
