In Australian court recently there was a case Giggle v Tickle.

Giggle was a woman only social media application, that wanted to exclude all men from the space. The app owner was an actual woman Sall Grover.
Tickle is a person, who has changed name to Roxanne. Tickle wanted access the site.
Giggle had an AI program that looked at a picture and refused entry to people it deemed not to be a woman.
The AI let Tickle in, but on review by the app owner, Tickle was removed. Tickle appeared to be a non-woman to the app owner (and personally I'd agree with her) and was removed.
Tickle took Giggle to Human Rights mediation, the mediation solution to avoid a trial, was that the app had to let Tickle on, purposefully seek to remove anything that may offended Tickle or people who agree with Tickle. Along with Grover going to education session on gender v sex. Grover refused.
Tickle began legal action, asking for $200K AUD but then withdrew. Then later changed mind and got approval even though the time had expired, as it was thought this was important to resolve.

Now it is likely that Tickle will win the first case but then it will go to Australian High Court.

Issue is Australia created its woman's right law on an UN convention that does not include gender expression. However, our first female PM, added gender expression to the Act.

This case is the case to legally define the question of "what is a woman", and because it is going to the UN convention it will probably be used a precedent internationally.

I am not from AU, but this sounds like an Onion (satire) article. Man, the world is going downhill. Social media + AI + trans stuff? Welcome to the strange reality of 2024.

It is a real court case in Australia.

We live in a crazy world.
Man, we live in the Onion. When I first heard about The Onion in the 2010s, I thought it was strange (as the Onion is satire), but now the 2020s is even worse compared to the Onion. Do you guys in the AU have a similar satire newspaper as well? If so, have you noticed that the real news has become even more strange compared to parody/comedy news articles?

Apparently there are one or more satirical publications around, most likely online.

I don't go looking for them as I'm not interested and in any case politics is enough to go on. I think it was Jay Leno who quipped that all he did on his show was report on politics as it happened.

There's a link here if you're interested, but the news they're sending up probably won't mean much to you as it will be most likely Australian and not American.

There's one example here from "The Shovel"

New Improved Qantas Frequent Flyer Program Lets You Book Any Seat You Want in Row 34 on Flights Leaving Between 11:15pm and 11:30pm on Tuesdays in June 2029

There used to be a magazine called "The Bulletin" which had some good political cartoons in it, but it unfortunately went out of production in 2008 after a 128 year run. It did have a satircal writer named Patrick Cook (I think) and another tongue in check journalist on financial affairs called Pip Pip Pierpont (if I remember rightly - real name Trevor Sykes) .

There's one of his articles here which I assume is copyright free.

The world has always been idiotic. There are plenty of Dr. Strangeloves around.

Nice, I will check those ones out, as satire is funny, even if I do not know much about Australian news, though I have heard about Qantas (one of the safest airlines in the world, as of 2023, from a real news article): World’s safest (and least safe) airlines for 2023: Qantas reclaims top spot in global list

But yes, the world has always been crazy, but it does seem that social media and technology have exacerbated the issues.
