Planned Parenthood’s latest report reveals that the abortion giant performed its highest-ever number of abortions the year Roe v. Wade was overturned.

Released on Tuesday, the 2022-2023 report, titled “Above & Beyond,” shows that Planned Parenthood performed 392,715 abortions between Oct. 1, 2021, and Sept. 30, 2022. This is an increase of 18,560 — or 5% — from the previous report, which showed 374,155 abortions in a one-year period.

According to an analysis by the faith-based law firm Liberty Counsel, Planned Parenthood’s latest abortion numbers mean that the organization ended 1,075 human lives through abortion every day and 44 every hour.

Liberty Counsel founder Mat Staver said that despite the Supreme Court’s 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade, “Planned Parenthood’s annual report reveals once again that its primary mission is making huge profit by aborting innocent babies.”

Anyway....

This was predictable. It was predicable for two easy to understand reasons even if those reasons are inconvenient for some people.

The GOP is coming after the abortion rights and contraceptive rights or women. Like it, don't like it - it's just a fact. Because of this more women are getting pregnant in the 17 or so states that have stopped teaching basic reproductive biology in school and/or limited access to contraceptives.

Second, a lot of states (again 17 or so) have outlawed abortions for almost any reason. This is driven women to states with more liberal abortion laws and most of those states have robust Planned Parenthood systems rather that simple "third party" abortion clinics so Planned Parenthood is just going to get more women seeking abortions that it used to.

NOW..... (more inconvenience)

The incidence of abortion is trending down and has been since 1982 or there about. And, I mean, way down: 40%. I know it's hard to take a win when you're complaining about losing but, seriously, we've brought abortion down in the US, can we recognize that?

Interesting article. I would have thought the abortions would have gone down since 2022 cos of the reversal of Roe v. Wade in the summer of that year. But as @Cosmic Charlie said, abortions are trending downwards since the 1980s.

From April 18, 2024, I will limit article summaries to only a few sentences (<20% of article), to protect copyrights as discussed on the CF Ethics forum. The article is by the Catholic News Agency, a donation supported news agency:

Planned Parenthood performed a record-breaking 392,715 abortions between October 2021 and September 2022, an increase of 5% from the previous year, according to their latest report. This equates to ending over 1,075 lives every day and 44 lives every hour. Planned Parenthood's focus on abortions came under fire from pro-life advocates, who criticized the organization for prioritizing abortions over healthcare services. Despite this, Planned Parenthood's revenue increased to over $2 billion, with almost $700M coming from government funds. The Charlotte Lozier Institute reported a 17% decrease in Planned Parenthood's overall services since 2010, with cancer screenings and prevention services down 71%. Human Coalition President Jeff Bradford called the report's title, "Above and Beyond," ironic, as Planned Parenthood is prioritizing abortions over helping women.
