Did you mean it from your heart ( you really wanted this) or was it just words ? Usually in that first year there is a lot of spiritual activity, you sense something. And it's typical ( we hear this a lot) where at around this year mark the Spirit ( Holy Spirit ) lets folks walk with a little less of His presence active. I see it as a test. You pass the test by not wavering but in seeking Him in prayers. You're young and new at this, don't be alarmed yet. What happens when we come to Jesus initially is salvation is secured, we are sealed by that very Holy Spirit ( you can read that in both Ephesians the first chapter and in 1 Peter the 3rd chapter especially in those early verses.) But the we go into the sanctification process, this takes a lifetime and it's a combo of things that get purged from us as we in time come to an actually hope to become more Christ like. I'm 71 years old and still being sanctified lol. And we will never other than by Jesus be perfected while in these bodies, once we leave these bodies we are present with the Lord and completely free of this flesh at that time. You can read of the apostle Pauls own struggle with this in the book of Romans where he most describes the constant battle of our spirits being of God now but fighting that flesh daily. Remember God loves you more than you can understand, we come to where we feel unworthy because ofv this flesh nature, what some of us call the old man or the old Adam which we are still stuck living in . But I tell you truly if you called out to the Lord you eternal life destination has changed. I could go on and on, and give verse after verse on all this. Do your fast, start off with something not too difficult, maybe daily snacks or something and in that time you would have snacked pray to the Lord. But not beating yourself up rather to gain wisdom and understanding from Him. If it's really sin ( some things we just think are sin but scripture makes no mention of) by the filling of the Holy Spirit in time they just seem to get purged from our lives in this sanctification process. So it's not a matter of our work but His once we agree with Him. Amen ? Are you following me through this ?
