What is the Catholic view of the Antichrist and the End Times?

I bought a study guide recently to help me understand Revelation, but it turns out it only gives the Futurist interpretation, which is only one of four many points of view (Futurist, Preterist (partial or full), Idealist, and Historicist). Can anyone tell me what the Catholic interpretation is...

    Is Pope Francis the Antipope?

I've seen in several threads in this forum people refer to Pope Francis as the Antipope, so I thought I would create this thread. How can he be the Antipope if he was elected by the cardinals who prayed to God for guidance? That would mean that the leaders of the Catholic Church were all...

Is the crucifix a form of idolatry?

I'm sure I'm not the only person who feels this, but seeing (and touching!) a crucifix brings me closer to God. Isn't that idolatry?

How do I respond to critics who say that God commits/advocates atrocities in the Bible?

I'm wondering how to respond to people who question the reality of the Christian God because of atrocities God commits or advocates in the Bible. I have no good answer and wonder myself if these elements of the Bible are simply made up by victors in battle to justify their atrocities. Thanks!

    Which study Bible?

Hi, I'm a huge fan of the KJV Bible and am looking for help understanding it better than I can on my own. For example, I'd like to know how scholars interpret the verses, since the content is from a society, culture, and language 2000+ years old. I've been reading reviews of various study...

A friend of mine asked me the above question with respect to God's omnipotence. Is there an answer to this besides yes or no? Thanks. Norm

    Free will and the Bible

I've been reading about free will and stumbled across the following in Wikipedia: This problem is related to the Aristotelian problem of the sea battle: tomorrow either there will or will not be a sea battle. If there will be sea battle, then it seems that it was true even yesterday that there...

    Did Jesus "fulfill" Mosaic laws?

Hi. I was watching a movie called Paul the Apostle and it showed him arguing that the Mosaic laws of the Torah were no longer binding because of Christ's crucifixion and resurrection. Paul argued that Jesus fulfilled the law. And yet, fulfilling the law is often translated as simply "teaching"...

    Inconsistencies in the Bible?

I was wondering if someone could explain to me their views on the inconsistencies in the Bible. Specifically, how could a loving God commit the attrocities documented in the Old Testament? Genocide with the Great Flood. Laws for stoning people to death. Ordering the slaughter of innocent men...
