    Jewish calendar

I read about the Jewish calendar, the months always start with the new moon, 12 months giving a 360 day year. In order to catch up to a 365 day year, an additional month is added about every 3 years. Wouldn't that give you 30 extra days to catch up in three years when you only need 15 ?

    Lazarus and the Rich Man

I have no doubt this is a parable, but would Jesus use an illustration straight out of paganism to show what happened to Lazarus and the Rich Man after they died? Maby so, but I think a story based on reality would bring the point across better. How would it seem if He used a story about...

Absent from the body and someplace else !

2 Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV) 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 5:1 (NKJV) 1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made...

    Was it really Samuel ?

1 Samuel 28:11-12 (NASB) 11 Then the woman said, "Whom shall I bring up for you?" And he said, "Bring up Samuel for me." 12 When the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice; and the woman spoke to Saul, saying, "Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul." 1 Samuel 28:15 (NASB)...

    Universalism and the early Fathers

Do you all believe that St. Basil, St. Athanasius, and St. Gregory of Nyssa were universalists. That is, they believed in the eventual restoration of all sinners in the long run?

    The Council of jerusalem

Could someone help me out? Did the Council of Jerusalem abolish all Old Covenant law including the Ten Commandments or just parts of the ceremonial law such as the law of circumcision and dietary laws. If it abolished only ceremonial laws, how did obstaining from fornication get mixed up in the...

    Did Jesus have a soul?

We know from John 1 that jesus pre-existed his actual birth and left his position as the eternal word to come down and inhabit His earthly body. Therefore at one time His soul or spirit was separated from his body. Do you believe His body and soul both died on the cross or did His soul live on...

    International Date Line

Do you believe the Bible gives us any information about where the international date line is located. The importance of this lies in the fact that if the locations are different for different people around the world, then the time of the Sabbath would also be different. Obviously, different...

    Question about the atonement

This is a hard subject for me to ask about but something I have never understood. If the atonement means that Jesus paid the full price for our sins, then how does being dead for three days substitute for being dead for eternity? Thanks.

    Was Jesus Dead?

As Trinitarians we believe in the pre-existence of Christ as the eternal Word, existing with the Father from eternity past. During the incarnation His spirit had to come down from heaven and enter his earthly body in the womb of Mary. Was that spirit destroyed when He died on the cross. Was...

    The Sabbath around the World

Jesus said that the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath. Do you really think it is important for everyone to keep it at the same time. For example, in some parts of the world several hours of Friday, Saturday and Sunday coinside during the same time period. If I'm communicating...

    Lazarus and the Rich Man

I don't have any problems believing "Lazarus and the rich man" was a parable. I just have problems believing Jesus would base a parable on a myth derived from paganism instead of actual truth. I know in many instances the bible speaks figuratively, but would the Lord base a parable on a total...

Growing up I remember Nazarenes as being old fashioned fundamentalist Christians, shunning the movies, drinking, etc. Are they now as liberal as United Methodists?

    Can salvation occur after death?

What do you all think about it? Do you think there is ever a time in this world or the next when God no longer loves the sinner? Do you think that some will change their minds in the next life and want to repent? I enjoy "your alls" community. I think you are good thinkers.

    Speaking in tongues

Please help me understand what Pentecostals believe about "speaking in tongues". I hear it advocated by ministers on t.v. but rarely ever see it practiced. I believe that on Pentecost it was a supernatural ability to speak in different languages but what did Paul mean by it in his letters to...
