Symbolic sins.

Often sin seems to have two meanings. We see this in spiritual adultery, witches, murderers, wolves, and drunkards. Even wealth has two meanings. It's money and spirit. A rich and well fed man is glad but a poor man is sad.

We see this in illness and nature as well. Blindness for example is either physical or spiritual. Sin is spiritual sickness as well.

Water, food, shelter, warfare, sowing and reaping, animals, and the weather all have spiritual meaning.

in Christ however we're free.

Yes, I've seen Man portrayed as a triad of circles within circles, with the spirit of Man at his center. And so, whatever happens in his spirit flows outward to affect his emotions, his mind, and his physical life.

Should we then find it surprising that how we relate to God has a ripple affect on all that we do? Our adultery with God becomes adultery in the world, whether in marriage itself or in putting things ahead of others.

Material reality is patterned on spiritual reality, to give us some understanding of spiritual reality.

It's curious that the apostles were dressed in rags. It's like Jeremiah carrying his yoke maybe. I'm not sure.

This could symbolize the rich church of revelation chapter 3. They were rich in money but not love or God who is love. In my opinion. They probably didn't help the poor.

They didn't see the poor who were actually themselves because we are one in Christ, but they only saw their own luxury. The poor brethren are to be loved as we love ourselves. We have equality. Oneness in the spirit

The apostle were out of their minds for God at times. Paul had a messenger of Satan torment him. This gives me much hope. My own problems are similar. I have mental illness or a thorn or both. I don't even know. It's like God said that his grace is sufficient. I know grace I guess.

So I don't know if I have a thorn or mental illness. I just live by grace not knowing for sure. But I'm glad I have hope with Paul's testimony.

Romans 8 says that neither demons, pestilence or poverty can separate me from God's love in Christ. No weapon formed against me will prosper. Perhaps I overcome by my testimony and the blood. I'm like a sheep led to the slaughter it seems.

Mental illness = not having the mind of Christ, which is the same as having unclean spirits.
Unclean spirits are symbols for false doctrines. Spirit in scripture equals doctrine. Birds also represents spirits.

Luk 8:35 Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.

Paul had a messenger of Satan torment him. So I doubt that mental illness can separate us from Christ. Romans 8 says that pestilence, or disease, cannot hurt us. Paul had some kind of illness because he said he had infirmities. It's spiritual blindness that is bad but illness is not.

Why do so many sinners not have mental illness but I do? I see sinners prosper. There is no pain in their deaths as king David wrote in his Psalms.

Unclean spirits in my opinion are greed, lust, division, contention, pride, and worldly fears and concerns. It's the opposite of faith and it doesn't come from God but from the world.
