The IDF knows what's going on.
The IDF has identified a build-up of hundreds of Hamas operatives from various regions in the strip, coming to reinforce the central towns' battalions of Hamas, which have not yet been dealt with in the IDF maneuver.
These are the battalions of Nuseirat and Al-Bureij, where Hamas has been preparing traps and many explosive fields in recent weeks in anticipation of possible IDF brigades.
Thousands of Hamas operatives have returned in recent weeks to impose their control over the population that returned to Khan Younis, from where the IDF withdrew after doing so in Gaza City and its surroundings in the north of the strip. But the new daily routine of IDF fighters at the only point in the strip where there remains a permanent IDF presence shows that Hamas' rehabilitation is military, not just civil-administrative.
According to official IDF reports – on a daily basis and based on testimonies from soldiers performing their fortification mission in the Netzarim Corridor – Hamas attacks almost every day, mainly with mortars, at the forces preventing the return of about a million Gazans to the northern Gaza Strip, as the last card Israel holds in the negotiation for the return of the captives.

As IDF steamrolls its way into the most southern part of the enclave and is denied weapons shipments from the US, Hamas is retaking sections left unattended and using guerilla warfare to fight back

And how would they get there? According to everyone the media talks to no one is willing to leave Rafah and claim they are going to stay so the expected outflow would be small. Also a month ago media reports stated there were about 1.1 million refugees in Rafah. In just the past few days they are claiming there are about 1.4 million refugees in Rafah; a net gain of 300,000 so it doesn't sound like too many people are scurrying out of town. Do you not also think that the IDF is also watching for hamas rats to try to leave? After all, the IDF is not stupid.

Many probably walked or drove blending in with others who were returning north from Rafah after the IDF withdrew from the area. Also, not all of the tunnel network has been destroyed.
Soon after the Israeli army said its troops were pulling out, people began to emerge into the devastated landscape, the residents of Khan Younis returning to find what remained of their homes.
A straggle of men and boys riding donkey carts, bicycles and the odd pick-up truck headed north out of Rafah in the far south of the Gaza Strip, where more than 1.5 million Palestinians had taken refuge from the relentless Israeli ground invasion and bombardment.
Gazans return to scenes of devastation in Khan Younis
Almost from the moment that Israel announced that its mission in Khan Younis was completed and its troops had been pulled out, Palestinians began to move from their overcrowded shelters further south towards their city.
On Monday Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel had set a date for a planned military operation in the southern city of Rafah, where many of those returning to Khan Younis had been sheltering. He gave no details.
Hamas restores its control over Khan Yunis
While hollow statements continue to be recited in the government, the internal security mechanisms of Hamas return to instill fear in the residents who return to Khan Yunis - and the IDF is almost no longer present on the ground. Veteran officers estimate: in the positive scenario - Hamas will only be defeated in 2026 or 2027. Meanwhile, More and more security officials see only a governmental alternative at the door.
Four days after the IDF withdrew from Khan Yunis , alongside the masses of residents returning to their destroyed homes , Hamas operatives are also identified who are beginning to restore their control over the largest city in the Gaza Strip.

If that is true then the IDF will go there.
They are going to Kill Hamas.
There is no.... 2nd chance, as you dont allow murdering religious psychopath's a 2nd chance, after their Leader stated over and over last November that "this is just the first wave, we are going to Israel, again, and again, until they are all dead".
If Hamas will surrender then they get to Live..
Its fascinating to notice that NO ONE who Supports "Palestine" and wants all the killing to stop.. .is saying...>"HAMAS, JUST SURRENDER.. .enough of this DEATH">
You never hear that from 'Palestinian supporters"...

Hamas is a symptom of decades of injustices perpetrated by the Israeli government against the Palestinian people. It will achieve nothing in the long term to ask Hamas to surrender, so long as the underlying conditions that created it persist. The road towards peace starts with Israel. Until Israel ends its occupation of the Palestinian territories and allows Palestinians the right to self-determination through the creation of a Palestinian state, there will be no peace.

What they are (at least in their own heads) are anti-colonizers. They see the Israelis as European colonizers. That's why there are even some Jewish youths among them.
