I have my own history of dozens of hours of watching yes, probably the most criticized of all, Benny Hinn services through the 80s and 90s. An arduous trek to retain the many testimonies (w/doctor reports) describing his healings. Do we idly sit back on our hands when even a few testimonies come through, or do we do the acceptable thing and give God the glory?

How would you advise the newer convert to Jesus Christ at being a good soldier in search of those who follow wholesome Holy Spirit teachings?
Don't be discouraged. And by that I am saying, stay in the word of God, you are on a trek of being "mighty in the scriptures". Those who feel 'Jesus is all I need for this and where I place this care' are simply trying to cover other text that deals with our calling;

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15)

The word of God seems like a lot to digest, and it is, but God gives us patience and will temper it within us by the Holy Spirit. So, don't be discouraged, better to be tickled in the ear from His inspiration than the ear be tickled by the sea of well-tempered error.
