is there a TV show from back from 80s and 90s you miss?

Right, right, with Michael Landon! Mr. Ingalls!

is there a TV show from back from 80s and 90s you miss?

My late grandmother loved "Touched By An Angel" and Roma Downey was a delightful leading lady in that series. To this day I still really enjoy the ALF theme and can still even play it on the bass, even though I've not touched a bass in years.

Series I Need To Get Caught Up With(?)

I'm pretty open to a variety of shows, but I often tend towards the action oriented series that may not make a lot of sense, but are fun to watch anyway. I also can appreciate darker themes as long as there's human drama to balance them out--like, say, the HBO "Spawn" animated series from the...

anime and manga that hurt your heart

To add another one...I've been rediscovering the HBO "Spawn" series and even though the violence, foul language and overall tone is not at all family friendly? The scenes where Al Simmons/Spawn interacts with a certain child character in the series are downright heartbreaking because the little...

    Tokusatsu Fans?

Do we have any fans of Tokusatsu in the house? Tokusatsu, for those who don't know, is an umbrella term in Japan used to cover live action TV dramas and movies that feature extensive special effects--a lot of which are CGI these days but there's still a lot of "guy in a suit" and miniature set...

    Prayer For Companionship

Apologies if this seems overly selfish, to begin with. But... I'm tired of being alone, but yet wary at best of modern women and their shenanigans, their refusal to take responsibility for their actions, and their overall hate of and disrespect for men. I don't "hate women" (that's entirely too...

anime and manga that hurt your heart

"Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" stomped on my feels with football shoes all throughout that series. Period paragraph. Not only the infamous chimera scene and how it ended with Scar visiting the father, but for me? The death and funeral of Maes Hughes--that just messed me up. I really liked...

Series I Need To Get Caught Up With(?)

I have an ever-growing list of series both retro and current being recommended that I need to revisit/get acquainted with, it seems. The ever growing list: "Record of Lodoss War" "Heroic Legend of Escaflowne" "The Slayers" "RG Veda" "Bubblegum Crisis" (I especially love the soundtrack for this...

is there a TV show from back from 80s and 90s you miss?

Oh, man, there were so many shows I loved back in those days! A partial list: "Beauty and the Beast" "Taxi" "The Cosby Show" "Married...With Children" (bawdy, but still hilarious) "Night Court" "Star Trek: The Next Generation" "Werewolf" "Force Five" (an awesome anime anthology series that got...

SINGLES, WE ARE CREATED FOR GOD'S GLORY!

Like if you date a coworker and things go south as they inevitably do in those situations. Speaking from past experience, it always ends badly and everybody knows your business, and these days if you're a man? Losing your job for it appears to be par for the course. I think that's a good analogy...

The evolution of television as a gen-Xer

Older Gen-Xer, here; born in 1969. I was a teenager at the time I was watching those shows. "Taxi" was the late Andy Kaufman's breakthrough (though I found his comedy bizarre and off-putting) as well as Danny DeVito's first big splash, and Christopher Lloyd was a regular on this series as...

The evolution of television as a gen-Xer

Speaking for myself, of course, but for me the last gasp of great TV and pop culture was the 80's in America and also England. IMO, all the best pop music (as in the pinnacle of it) was released in the early to mid-80's and my favorite TV shows almost all date back to the 80's, also. "Taxi"...

Where did the past 20 years go?

I know, right? I'm learning that yes, the older you get, the faster time flies by (unless you're at work half the time). Sometimes for me it does feel like 1999 was yesterday and all of a sudden it's 2022 and where the heck did the time get off to?! I've had the same job for 21 years, now, holy...

    Thankfulness This Year

@Brother-Mike I may just have to do that at some point. Got to upload some phone photos to my desktop to that end... @NinjaPirate777 Same here. Most people will only learn when smacked in the face with reality and experience, unfortunately. I just go about my business and do my own thing, and...

Why does so much Christian music tend to be soft?

I can only speak for myself here, of course, when I say that one of the reasons CCM tends to sound alike to me is what you mentioned; it's geared towards being calming and soothing and presenting the Word, which is well and good. But yes, it all sounds the same after a while, at least in the...
