The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

Do you know what a proverb is? The phrase “ it’s raining cats & dogs” is a proverb. A proverb is an idiom or a figure of speech that is not necessarily accurate according to the wording. So let’s do this, let’s apply your interpretation of these verses to a situation in the scriptures. Like...

The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

Can you provide a quote from an official Calvinist document that indicates that we are not puppets? You’re putting that restriction on us according to the OP so your argument should be restricted to the same requirements that you’ve placed on us.

The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

This is just another band-aide excuse to cover the holes in Calvin’s theology very much like the effervescent grace excuse used to cover up the holes in his irresistible grace doctrine in response to the verses that indicate that people can fall from grace and lose their salvation. You still...

The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

Well wait a minute let’s back up to Proverbs 21:1. “The king’s heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭21‬:‭1‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬ Now you also said this So you’re saying that God didn’t govern David’s actions in his lust for Bathsheba...

The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

That’s it? You still refuse to answer my question and you think Matthew 28:18 says that God controls everyone 24/7? I feel like you’re not even trying to engage in the discussion you’re just tossing out a verse that doesn’t even remotely support Calvin’s quote. So I’ll ask a third time did God...

The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

What, you mean that God uses people for His purpose? I never objected to this idea, no the idea that I object to is that God governs the will of all men because that is not what the scriptures teach. The scriptures do not teach that God governs the will of all men 24/7, the examples you provided...

The New and Improved No-Straw-Man Challenge

Ok these verses don’t say what the Calvin quote actually says. These verses talk about what God did at a particular time and they don’t involve God controlling everyone everywhere like the quote from Calvin does. You’re pointing out specific examples but these don’t indicate that God governed...

    The Danger of "Keeping Sabbath."

I’ve brought up that point before, God didn’t stop giving commandments in Exodus 20 He kept on giving commandments for the next few chapters.

I just want to vent (spontaneously)

That sounds like legally applying for asylum. If someone legally applies for a visa then they’re not an illegal immigrant. The one thing I keep noticing in this thread is that there are a lot of people who are repeatedly misapplying the term illegal to immigrants who are actually legal residents.

I just want to vent (spontaneously)

Where does it say that “illegal” immigrants are being housed here? The articles say migrants they don’t say anything about them being illegal.

Yeah there’s no doubt that Christ’s crucifixion was planned before creation.

It depends on how you define the term “plan & execute”. Did God make Judas betray Jesus and make people crucify Him, or did God know that Judas would betray Jesus and it would lead to His crucifixion? Because there’s a huge difference in knowing what people will do by their own free will and...

Amen, satan doesn’t make anyone do anything, he can only tempt people, we’re the one who ultimately makes the decision to sin or not which is why we’re the ones held responsible for our actions.

The thing is that people still rebel against His will and there is evidence of this in scripture. “Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance? But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant...
