  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Release International workers were visiting Eritrea to meet with the persecuted Church, they were incredibly nervous as they heard from the Church that the police were harassing the Church about who these workers were.

On their visit, one of the Eritrean sisters in Christ described her 40 days in prison as a "good time" and that it went very quickly. Was she insane? No, she had such intimacy with Christ and she worshipped constantly with other believers in jail! Oh, that we may have faith like hers.

The Release International workers were still nervous as they knew their visit was known about by the authorities and they knew what Eritrean jails were like.

The time came, after saying goodbye to the brothers and sisters in Eritrea, they made their way to the airport, the passport check came up and the workers hearts were thudding.

Alas, they were ok but the nerves didn't stop until the plane officially took off, the workers thinking of the Brothers and sisters' hardship while looking at the aerial views below, the aerial views containing the Church and believers, they had seen and fellowshipped with.

When they arrived home to see their families, they had learnt that the hosts had been arrested (not because of hosting the workers but because of evangelising).

May we always think of the persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ, as they are outlr literal family.
