Unfortunately we have no way to determine which blessings were paid for and which were not. The previous owner did not hand that information over.

Well, some people had lots of blessings simply because they were active over a long, long time. Doesn't loyalty count for anything?

I must say, I'm very disappointed. :(

They still have those blessings for being active. The recalculation takes that into account. If you look at the leaderboard, the leaders are long time, active members. So I am not sure what you mean.

Hello everyone,

We have had blessings around since our previous software and when we moved over we didn't really have a good system setup for receiving blessings and spending them. That's about to change though!

Today, all Blessings will be reset and rebuilt based on a certain criteria. This criteria is based off of actions you take on the forum. For example, simply logging in each day will get you Blessings, as well as posts.

There are also actions that we will not disclose that will also earn you Blessings. So make sure you take advantage of all that the forum has to offer and watch your Blessings grow! :)

Why are we resetting blessings? Well, we want everyone to be on an even playing field. Why? Because now you will be able to redeem your blessings.

With your Blessings you will be able to purchase premium account upgrades, gift premium account upgrades and make other changes to your account, such as change your username.

This is intended on giving those who can not afford to upgrade their account a way to participate and then use their Blessings to enjoy our Premium Account feature.

Look for the new features to pop up over the next week or so!

Actions that will award you blessings:

Receiving a Like or Rating
Giving a Like or Rating
Creating a Post
Creating a Thread
Having someone reply to your thread
Logging in everyday gives you blessings right out of the box
Voting on a Poll
Getting a Follower

Well now, I like that!!

Very interesting!

All good things

On second thought, all of you are precious blessings.

You all may not show up on my number of blessings, but you all do bless me with your presence here in my heart.

Software doesn't always take into account the feelings I have. Darn it!

How does that work, then? What is the recalculation formula? Because I've been here, off and on, for 13 years.

If you look at the leaderboard

Where is the leaderboard?

Where is the leaderboard?

The leaderboard is here: http://www.christianforums.com/members/?type=adcredit

The things you get blessings for are listed in the first post of this thread. Posting and logging in everyday get you points. As well as the other stuff listed.

Every member has the same recalculation formula applied to their account.

I also had lots of blessings and banked a good few as well...are they being reset so everyone has a chance of being on level pegging cos I've been here since 2008 and had lots and lots and don't seem to have many now (I'm not complaining please don't think that, I'm just trying to understand where my old ones have gone....also can I say I LOVE the fact they are being used for certain criteria instead of being thrown around like they used to.:0) Great to see them back and being used

OK - is it essential to send me an alert every day after I have logged in to tell me I have Blessings just for logging in ? Can I expect a similar Alert for every time I get a Blessing for receiving a 'Like' [ or similar rating ] or for giving one ?

I don't want to have to turn off Alerts - that function does have its uses

Do you honestly want to turn alerts off because of something that happens once a day? And is it not obvious that you can not expect an alert every time you get a like, since you don't get an alert every time you get a like?

BUT - I know I'm getting blessings every time I log in - so why tell me I have ?

Because I feel it is nice to be reminded that we are doing our best to give back in some way for simply visiting our site.

Maybe that is just me though. I welcome what others think about it.

You all give back by keeping the site running, and moderating each day. We don't need blessings to know you all work hard behind the scenes. That should be enough for us.

It really was just something simple that I setup. Didn't think it would be annoying to anyone to have 1 alert every 24 hours.

It doesn't annoy or bother me. I don't understand the purpose of blessings personally, but I see your reasons. :)

no, this is just Anhelyna griping because it's something she doesn't have control over.
so let her ignore the alerts the same way we are able to ignore disruptive posters.
and let the rest of us enjoy the alerts, knowing that there's someone out there who likes us, and appreciates what we are doing on here.:p

All interesting stuff.

I never paid TOO much attention to them. I simply had a lot on the old platform. I had most of them banked, and thought I lost them when we moved. And I've had friends gift them and such, but since they didn't do anything I never watched closely. I thought I had far less again, but it's more interesting to have them actually be able to be used for something again, and maybe not have many millions as I used to, lol.

To be completely honest, I could live without that alert as well. It was useful initially, in that it clued me in to what was going on, but now that I do know it's no longer helpful.

However, I can see that it might be good for new members.

I find it annoying. I get excited to see that someone responded to a thread I posted on...and it is just a note saying I have got a "reward" for signing on. I don't need a participation trophy daily. I sign on to have discussions, not get brownie points. Just my opinion. It may mean nothing. Eventually, the reminder will mean nothing too....same as anything we get daily.
