  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Probably nobody will read this. I'll write it anyway because it's my prerogative.
It just gets me how much we, even as Christians, ignore the feelings of others. But also are own. Because they're uncomfortable. Feelings are uncomfortable. Healing from trauma is uncomfortable. We can't just go around it. And as much as we all would love to say a one time SOS prayer to God and He just flicks a switch and it's all over...no more discomfort...no more bad memories...it just doesn't work like that. We have to put some effort in. Because, for one, He is not just some magic wand. When we only talk to other people for what they can do for us we call that using them right? The Lord wants a relationship with us not just to be used to wipe away all our uneasiness. And secondly, if He did just zap away alm our problems how would we grow? How would we Help Others? You can help someone else by using your experience. We are so quick to pass the buck to God and want Him to fix everything for ourselves and everyone we encounter so that we don't have to get our hands dirty. But sometimes while we're sitting here waiting on God, God is waiting on us.
