Why do so many people come to CF to prove they are smart by engaging in debate, but so few come here to be actively involved in prayer and worship of God?
So the question is:
What is holier, debating or fellowshipping with God?

How come so many people do anything aside from being actively involved in prayer and worship (terms which should be defined) of God?
So the question is:
What is holier, debating or fellowshipping with God?
Which is "holier" (set apart for God) more? I would say neither (consider Acts 18:28, 1 Peter 3:15 and Ephesians 6:18, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, 1 Timothy 2:8, etc. where both prayer and debate are affirmed). However, I'm willing to bet that the majority of people here would be better off not debating here as much as they do.

Debating is a good and bad thing. Bad because it messes up good friendships and sends christians at eachothers throats. But it's good because sometimes some people need to be woken up and proven wrong.

Debating does not have to mess up fellowship.
Example:
R. C. Sproul anf John Macarthur (both very prominent theologians in the evangelical community) are very good friends. They do seminars together and work together very well. However, Sproul is a covenant theologian while Macarthur is a Dispensationalist. Do they disagree on this? You bet. Are they friends? Yes. Do they still fellowship together? Of course.
Debating and refuting essential false doctrine is one thing. We are commanded to do this. Disputible matters are quote another. It's fine to disagree and discuss as long as we don't divide. Is this possible? Yes, reference the example above. Unfortunately, internet chat rooms frequently attract people who desire to debate merely to prove themselves right rather than expand their knowledge of God.

Thank you for the encouragement. I think it is a good reminder to keep our priorities and perspective right.
