Hey everyone,
So I went to the doctor today to see if I possibly might have melanoma and too see about the regular stuff. While, one question we had was the excess hair that is growing on my face.
I might be diagnosed with PCOS, which puts melanoma and an eating disorder and acne at the far back of my mind.
I get the results back Monday or Tuesday. I am just really scared ya'll. PCOS would be the worst thing ever!!!!
Pray for me please!
Monica

I will pray for you. :crossrc:
Do not be fearful Monica. God promises to provide for His children, which you are one. He loves you dearly, formed you in the womb, paid for your sin in full, gave you lifesaving Faith, and provided you with a loving mediator.
"1 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk
through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD
forever." (Psalm 23)
"28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. 29For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. 30And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified.
31What, then, shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36As it is written:
"For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered." 37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8)
You are in good hands!

Monica, I will keep you in my prayers and in the mean time rest in those scriptures Recht listed. God is walking through this with you every step of the way.
Be Not Afraid
written by Bob Dufford, S.J.
You shall cross the barren desert,
but you shall not die of thirst.
You shall wander far in safety,
though you do not know the way.
You shall speak your words in foreign lands,
and all will understand,
You shall see the face of God and live.
Be not afraid,
I go before you always,
Come follow Me,
and I shall give you rest.
If you pass through raging waters
in the sea, you shall not drown.
If you walk amidst the burning flames,
you shall not be harmed.
If you stand before the pow'r of hell
and death is at your side,
know that I am with you, through it all
Be not afraid,
I go before you always,
Come follow Me,
and I shall give you rest.
Blessed are your poor,
for the Kingdom shall be theirs.
Blest are you that weep and mourn,
for one day you shall laugh.
And if wicked men insult and hate you, all because of Me,
blessed, blessed are you!
Be not afraid,
I go before you always,
Come follow Me,
and I shall give you rest.

Difficult, but I stress not impossible.
Lets hope my genes take some effect over the PCOS and I will still be able to get pregnant easily (my family is extremely extremely fertile).

I've never heard it
It's in this book http://www.grouppublishing.com/prodinfo.asp?prodid=620 - #86
I love this book. I've had it since I've been in high school and so far I've only managed to have it so the back cover and index are the only pages torn off, even though I've constantly brought this book with me places. Books I love can get easily worn! I've got three CDs that have about a total of 60 of the songs from the book recorded on them.

Ok, I read the post that tells us what PCOS stands for but can we get any further info. Does it produce more endometriosis or what?
I've answered this 3 times and it keeps disappearing. I hate this new keyboard and mouse. I'm hitting something that's deleting what I'm typing.
Anyway, are you sure you want to go here? This is the stuff that makes men run for the hills, which is why we are PMing.
Anyway, you have been warned to turn away if you don't want to know further.
Endometriosis could be a problem, but it isn't the biggie. I don't have it and no one I know with PCOS has it. In PCOS, the eggs in the ovaries are surrounded by a fluid, which is what the cyst is called. The signal from the brain to the ovaries to release an egg is scrambled by the cysts. Therefore, the biggest symptom is late or missed periods. Also, the hormones in Birth Control Pills will mask the symptoms, which is why it's the most common treatment, and is the reason I didn't know I had this until recently. It shows up most commonly in the early to mid 20s. I went off the pill last year after being on it for more than a decade, a few months later, I didn't have a period, so I thought I was pregnant... This happened twice last winter - not fun at all. There are other symptoms - and since it is a syndrome and not a disease, one can have 1 or a combination of the other symptoms - everyone is different. My symptoms are a little different than Music's, but we both have the all of a sudden acne.
If one wants to get pregnant, they can take a lower dose fertility pill to force ovulation once a month, so they know when to try. If guys are reading this, I'll warn you that if your wife is going through this and gets this far, they are going to test you too before she can take the fertility pills becuase the side effects are so bad if taken more than a few months. They want to make sure you can do your part to get her pregnant.
The good thing about the PCOS diagnosis if you want to have children, is that everyone gets tested and/or treated before trying, rather than after trying for a while first, then getting frustrated, then finally seeing a doctor about it. We weren't planning on trying until this year anyway, and now we are able to find out what problems there are much more quickly than if I didn't have that diagnosis. On the other hand it does mean a lifetime of yearly blood tests. Yuck.
Hope that explains it without giving too too much information. :)

Thanks,
I appreciate the info and no it doesn't scare me away. I think that learning about this helps me to understand better the problems that females have.
Heck I am the one who usually has to go to the store and get my wife her panty liners. I don't have a problem with it no more than a woman should have a problem picking up condoms for her husband.

My husband just walks two isles over from where he works to get my stuff and anything else we need. ;) He also made sure I had my bcp's, and will probably fill my clomid when the time comes, and counsel me on the side effects. It's weird, but it's handy.
Since I did bring that all up, if you could say a prayer for my hubby. He has to go see a urologist in November to figure out what's wrong with him.
