Anyone want to participate in a thread for expository Bible study?
I thought we might start at Matthew 1:1 and work our way through the NT.

Here's the first chatper of Matthew:
1 The historical record of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: 2 Abraham fathered Isaac, Isaac fathered Jacob, Jacob fathered Judah and his brothers, 3 Judah fathered Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez fathered Hezron, Hezron fathered Aram, 4 Aram fathered Aminadab, Aminadab fathered Nahshon, Nahshon fathered Salmon, 5 Salmon fathered Boaz by Rahab, Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth, Obed fathered Jesse, 6 and Jesse fathered King David. Then David fathered Solomon by Uriah's wife, 7 Solomon fathered Rehoboam, Rehoboam fathered Abijah, Abijah fathered Asa, 8 Asa fathered Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat fathered Joram, Joram fathered Uzziah, 9 Uzziah fathered Jotham, Jotham fathered Ahaz, Ahaz fathered Hezekiah, 10 Hezekiah fathered Manasseh, Manasseh fathered Amon, Amon fathered Josiah, 11 and Josiah fathered Jechoniah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon. 12 Then after the exile to Babylon Jechoniah fathered Shealtiel, Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel, 13 Zerubbabel fathered Abiud, Abiud fathered Eliakim, Eliakim fathered Azor, 14 Azor fathered Zadok, Zadok fathered Achim, Achim fathered Eliud, 15 Eliud fathered Eleazar, Eleazar fathered Matthan, Matthan fathered Jacob, 16 and Jacob fathered Joseph the husband of Mary, who gave birth to Jesus who is called Messiah. 17 So all the generations from Abraham to David were 14 generations; and from David until the exile to Babylon, 14 generations; and from the exile to Babylon until the Messiah, 14 generations. 18 The birth of Jesus Christ came about this way: After His mother Mary had been engaged to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. 19 So Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her publicly, decided to divorce her secretly. 20 But after he had considered these things, an angel of the Lord suddenly appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, don't be afraid to take Mary as your wife, because what has been conceived in her is by the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to name Him Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins." 22 Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: 23 See, the virgin will be with child and give birth to a son, and they will name Him Immanuel , which is translated "God is with us." 24 When Joseph woke up from his sleep, he did as the Lord's angel had commanded him. He took his wife home, 25 but he did not know her intimately until she gave birth to a son. And he named Him Jesus.

17 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:17&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
18 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:18&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused[engaged] to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. 19 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:19&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing [desireous]to make her a public example, was minded[determined] to put her away privily[divorced].
20 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:20&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.psalms 51:5
21 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:21&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

22 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:22&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:23&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
isa 7:14, john 20:17
24 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:24&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25 (http://www.studylight.org/desk/?query=mt+1:25&t=kjv&sr=1&l=en) And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.

I also used the KJV since I didn't want to exclude our KJVO brothers and sisters. I think we could refer to modern translations when we arrive at a passage or word that is difficult to understand in the KJV.
Most people can't understand the KJV in the way it was intended, so I intentionally didn't post it in KJV. If you want to refer to your KJV as we studiy, that's fine, but we will NOT be posting in KJV.
Also, the women in this text are not the only important thing about it, and pretty much everyone has heard sermons on them ad nauseum, so let's not "correct" other's posts by editing and reposting them.
Everyone posts what they post and NO ONE argues with it, because this is about learning, not arguing.
If someone feels the need to control this thread, they are welcome to open a new one and control that one. This one is about inclusion and learning ONLY.

No problem. It is your idea and you are leading the discussion. I'm simply offering some suggestions to make things run a little smoother, but if you don't like them, I have no problems with going your route. Cheers.

I think this is a wonderful idea and look forward to participating in the study. I have a question: What is the significance of the 14 generation intervals discussed in verse 17?

It has to do with around when Jesus is coming back.
In 14 generations.
