I'm a brand new Christian, I've been here at CF for a few months but yesterday was the day!

I'm a very liberal person, and a great fella PM'd me and told me that I should introduce myself here. He told me there's a great community in the liberal churches forum. I'm sure its true, and I look forward to getting to know you!

Your (very new) brother in Christ

Dave

Yeah, you won't get people here telling you your faith isn't complete until you've read Lee Strobel! ;)

As always, everyone's welcome. You might check the "a word about our founder" thread.

Welcome to you, Dave!

This is by far one of the most hopping, happening, and happy homes for liberal believers on the 'net!

Thank you all, for the welcomes!

:groupray:

This is just too good. I knew, when I accepted Christ into my life, that I became part of His family. But to actually have so many of my new sisters and brothers offering their love to me... it's too much.

I love you all!

Oh, don't worry. Soon enough, people will be demanding that you accept specific theological claims that you don't even understand, or they'll kick you out of the club. :P

What, really?

You're joking, right?

Avatar, sadly no, it's no joke speaking in general. :( (But not in THIS specific forum. We may have our go-rounds about doctrinal specifics, but we don't throw people out.)

But in the real worl and the rest of the forums, some will be demanding and angry about it, others will reach to you with a fist of iron encased in a velvet glove, but yes, they will try to get you to think the way they think.

It's human nature. There is "safety" in numbers, so that's a major reason why people are always trying to convert others into being clones of themselves.

No. Here's the thing; the great thing about Christianity is that it's true: We have a savior. The awful thing about Christianity is that it's true: We need one.

Underneath it all, people really really want to be part of an exclusive group, better than the other groups, which shows them to be special and important. They do not want to share their ice cream.

This is the precise thing Jesus came to save us from. In a way, it's oddly comforting to note that He was right. :)

I live in the middle of a very, VERY conservative state -- and my parish (and this forum) are very often my links to spiritual sanity!

I hope you find this place as helpful as I have. (Note: the News, Politics, and General Apologetics forums can be a bit contentious -- put up a big, durable plexiglass shield if you venture in there!)

Philippians 2:12-16:
12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. 14 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: 15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; 16 Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
