Do you prefer, "practical" sermons and Bible studies, or "doctrinal" sermons and Bible studies? Assuming, of course, that you see a difference between the two.

Practical, any day. I consider the doctrinal to be useful only to the extent that it effects the practical. (That said, it seems to effect the practical too often. :sigh: )

Honestly doctrinal, at the moment at least... I'm going through some biblical issues at the moment and it has been the past months worth of 'doctrinal' sermons that has made me understand some of these issues...

I'd say practical, however I don't mind some doctrinal every once in awhile.

I am a very techical and detailed oriented person so I tend to prefer doctrinal sermons. I am not patting my own back*, but I'm pretty quick witted so I can easily adapt doctrinal messages to everyday circumstances so practical examples are a little tedious to me.
*okay maybe a little. ;)

"Practical" sermons too often assume they know things about me that aren't true. They often seem shallow.
Interactive Bible studies always become practical if the leader and participants are open to people reflecting on both the scripture and their lives.
