Most protestants are split between double predestination, single predestination, and no predestination. What is the Orthodox view?

We believe in the free will of man to choose or reject the faith, but we also believe the prompting and operation of the Holy Spirit are necessary before anyone will believe.

We believe the divine predestination is based upon God's foreknowledge of who will or will not believe, not on some arbitrary act of omnipotent despotism.

As St. Irenaeus said: " . . . all men are of the same nature, able both to hold fast and to do what is good, and, on the other hand, having also the power to cast it from them and not do it" (Against Heresies, 4.37.2).

He also said, " But because man is possessed of free will from the beginning, and God is possessed of free will, in whose likeness man was created, advice is always given to him to keep fast the good, which is done by means of obedience to God" (Ibid, 4.37.4).
