I've had her book for several years among other books dealing with Bible versions, textual criticism, etc. I've been writing a critique of the book for the past few weeks and the further I get into the book, the more work I have to do, showing the problems with it  As one scholar noted, correcting the book is like trying to plug the "holes" in a chain link fence  James R. White has written about it as well as done a few debates and webcasts on it. Also there have been several other books and articles on her book. However, several friends of mine have been endorsing her book and material. Therefore, since it'd be a long discussion, I thought it best to spend the time writing something on it (well, typing, but you know what I mean)

I've never read it before but here is an article (http://www.wayoflife.org/fbns/newage.htm) by a KJVO who ripped it apart.

Good Day, Dikaioo
I have not read the book as a whole my pastor has it and has asked that I read it. I do have Dr. White's book and listened to 4 hrs of debate on this topic. I do have a question on the book, I have noticed that many who hold that veiw personly attack those who desagree with them. Does Gail stoop to such a level in her book?
Peace to u,
By the way welcome to CF!!

Not only does she do that, but she also misrepresents the people she quotes, here's an example:
“A striking case of where the KJV, following bad Greek copies of the original text, changed the original is John 1:18. The KJV says: “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” John 1:18, as inspired by the Holy Spirit, is one of those few clear and decisive texts that declare that Jesus is God. But without fault of its own, the KJV, following inferior manuscripts, altered what the Holy Spirit said through John, calling Jesus “Son.” Using the archaic language of the KJV, the verse should read: “No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten God, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.” Or to say it in a modern and elegant way: “No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only [Son], who is at the Father’s side, has made him known” (NIV). (Barker, The NIV: The Making of a Contemporary Translation, p.143, emphasis added).
On p. 3 and p.83 of NABV Riplinger misrepresents Barker. In the quote he is referring to John 1:18 saying that John 1:18 is one of those clear texts that is basically inarguable when read correctly. Of course, 1 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 1:8; and several others are clear as well. His point, however, is that this is at "face value" like John 20:28 for example. He wasn't saying (as Riplinger implies) that the Bible isn't clear on the diety of Christ. There are several other instances of her messing up people's quotes (just look at what she does to D.A. Carson's quotes, how she jumps around, page to page, not informing the reader that her elipses are actually for jumping pages. That's just a brief, informal example(s).

Yes, I have read several of his articles and visit his site regularly. Has a lot of interesting stuff, and then some stuff you sorta just look over
Edit: I also talked to him a few times via email and let's just say we didn't come to the same conclusion on some textual matters (regarding Desiderius Erasmus, the Received Text, and modern day lower criticism which is to be distinguished from higher criticism) :preach: :)

Every KJVO has stuff like that. ;)
But I respect his ability to stand up against abuses within the ranks of his "own side" as it were.
Conclusion
Some might be thinking, "Why are you defending the modern versions? Aren't they corrupt?" Yes, the modern versions are corrupt, and I AM NOT defending them. I am against error, though, regardless of where it appears. We do not have the right to make false statements even about the devil himself. When our speaking and writing is filled with error of fact and is characterized by shoddy research and indefensible extremism, we discredit our entire position. I am not saying there is no good in New Age Bible Versions. The book contains many helpful insights and it documents the frightful corruption of the modern versions, but it also is filled with illogical and improper statements which have the effect of discrediting everything the author says that is true.
There is no reason, friends, to promote a book like this when there are so many dependable volumes which defend the preserved Word of God and expose the error of the modern versions. We would recommend Defending the King James Bible by D.A. Waite. Modern Bibles: The Dark Secret by Jack Moorman is a good smaller book. These are available from Bible for Today, 900 Park Ave., Collingswood, NJ 08108.

Yes, that's actually how we started talking. I emailed him thanking him for his helpful website and his stance, and then he started asking me questions about school. I told him I went to and was returning back to Bob Jones University soon (www.bju.edu) and that's how it all got started. BJU uses the UBS 4th edi. of the GNT.

Sorry bad joke. I've never met someone from BJU before and am curious about how things are now WRT that whole fiasco.
