I have several of Solovyov's but I do not have that title. I find him very interesting.

I am enjoying the book immensely.

Soloviev - as you correctly noted, it is pronounced Solovyov - was Dostoyevsky's friend and knew Tolstoy, as well.

Great writer.

Soloviev was a Russian Orthodox theologian (d. 1900) who came to see the early papacy as the focus of Christian unity and authority and sought to restore East-West Catholic unity on that basis. That is basically what the book is about.

Some believe he actually became a Roman Catholic in his later years.

That may be true, but he received last rites from an Orthodox priest.

Anyway, I like the book so far.
