any good books on end-times or second coming prophecy, especially focused on prophecy from Revelation? I start reading Revelation, and it's almost as if it's in a totally different language. So I'm looking for some good books that can help me sift through it, written by authors who are considered to be reliable and trustworthy.

By Grace, this may or may not help you depending on your understanding of Hebrew words.

http://www.beittikvahsynagogue.org/obh/engtexts/hisgalus.htm

Now I don't know too much about beit Tikvah but this is the "Orthodox Jewish Brit Chadasha" version of The Revelation.

You can read the other books of the Chadasha here http://www.beittikvahsynagogue.org/obh/obhindex.htm

You have to understand, any Christian interpreting Revelation without a firm believing background in the Tenakh and also believing that Israel is still G-ds chosen will be ony interpreting from the Churches POV.

That's why I'm asking here for recommendations! Thanks for the links; I'm checking them out now.

This is a good primer and the author is highly recommended by me.

Also see the adjoining articles. There is an entire section with quick questions and short answers.

I am interested in this subject also, especially the Book of Revelation from a MJ perspective and I happened to find this online:

http://www.lionlamb.net/Yavoh/2004/print/Feb2004PN.htm (http://www.lionlamb.net/Yavoh/2004/print/Feb2004PN.htm)

I you will find this helpful as I did although I am much newer at studying this so you may already be familiar with this teaching.

Shalom,

Thanks, Sarah! I haven't seen that site before, so it was really interesting. And you aren't really newer at it than I am. I've pretty much stayed away from Revelation until just the past week or so, because it seemed so overwhelming.

And, Charles, thank you for the link. You wouldn't be biased, though, would you? ;)

Reading the last chapter of a book to see the ending, is not going to get you to know the characters in the book, to understand the dynamics of what is going on. The Lord knew there was a war on, and to keep the enemy from knowing, has coded the Word of God inside itself for those who study His Word prayerfully for the guidance of the Holy Spirit to direct their thoughts and understanding. Reading Revelation is the last chapter of earth's history and it has to understood in context with the rest of what has gone on before and found in the Word of God. There is a lot of sysmboism for a reason, for if the enemy of God's Word understood what it points out, they would have made a more concerted effort to destroy the Word, the understanding, and the believers than there has been done so far.

Here is another piece to the puzzle, hope that the insights help.

Hi Jill,

I am doing a bible study on Revelation right now. In my view, i try to stay as close to what the Holy Spirit teaches me vs. what a man can try to tell me is the correct interpretation. The best way to do that, in my view, is to do your own study. Here is the one i am doing right now. There are i think, 4 series of studies (about 11 or so weeks each one). I could not recommend a better study or teacher.

These studies allow the Holy Spirit to teach you! :) I have only read Revelation once before (i was a little intimidated) and now i have a much better grasp on things (im only on the second study). Kay Arthur is very "pro Israel" and understands that the church has not replaced Israel.
