With being a Messianic, what are some things that you would like to do that you can not do, or would start something with your family if you did it? For me, it is going to my local Messianic Synagogue. I would love to go, but my dad would freak, so I can't. Also, I would like to eat kosher, but neither of my parents understand, so I don't. How about you? :confused:

Hi MJterry, :wave:

Have you talked about this with your father? Why do you believe he won't support your decision?

MJTerry;

I have not the circumstances to have very much control over going to MJ synagogue as my hubby would have a fit. I do have control over the food as I cook the meals.

Maybe you could get more active in the kitchen with your mom, trying out recipes that are more leaning towards kosher dishes without saying much other than taking an interest in learning how to cook and prepare foods. That way when you are on your own, you will be better prepared to feed yourself. It has two advantages, you getting to eat better or more kosher foods and it will tickle your mom with the offer to help in the kitchen.

As far as attending the synagogue, have you considered contacting the synagogue to see if there is someone that could drop by and pick you up. That is with your parents permission, of course.

I can drive myself, it is just that my father would get pretty upset.

Hi, MJTerry, :wave:

Why would your father be upset? Have you discussed Messianic beliefs with him?

Daniel

Hi, MJ

I know you and your dad have battled over this quite a bit. Did his perspective change any with all that happened to your family from the hurricane?

I don't think you ever mentioned what your mom thought of it all. Just wondering if she feels differently than your dad does. I'm not at all suggesting that you pit them against each other! I was just wondering if she is more or less tolerant of your explorations.
