Hi all, its me again....well I just got back from my cousins wedding in NY. I had a lot of fun, but I am completely exhausted and what not(due to the plans made and my current physical health). I spent the past day and a half with my jewish grandfather, which the bulk of it was on Rosh Hashanna. Now, we really didn't do anything "special," but because he lives in Queens, we went to Queens BLVD and ate dinner in a nice deli. I had some kasha with a nice hot pastrami sandwish with french fries and a diet coke. MMM......deli pastrami....*drools*. Does that count for anything? I wanted to go to a "real" jewish service, but because of the holiday the synagogues (yes,there are multiple synagogues in the area my grandpa lives) were packed with people, plus all the men wore black trench coats and black hats, and I would have felt really under dressed. Anyways I felt right at home, and I also got from my grandpa a few books, one that teaches how to speak/read hewbrew, the 5 books of moses, a small torah scroll(I mea like really small), and 2 prayer books. So yeah, after my visit I really felt like the "jewish" side of me was calling out "when you get back to california, go to that MJ service!!!!" Now the confusion that was semi gone is back...and its still with those catholics (BTW I forgot who posted in my last thread like 5 links to stuff about the early church, but yeah I got those liinks still, and if anyone wants them send me a PM and I will send them to you.). I dunno, all I can say for now is I am in the mood for pastrami on rye with a side of steak fries....

abpit the only way I can see to help clear up the "confusion" is for you to GO to the MJ congregation - This Shabbat will be Yom Kippur and will be very Atypical - possibly 25 hours of services and fasting.... so if you go this Shabbat keep that in mind - Next Shabbat should be more typical -- but jump into the water - there are no sharks ;) http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/26/26_11_10.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001) LOL
So, call the synagogue and ask some questions - then go!

*Zemmy grabs a club, jumps into the water, swims over to the lil dude in the picture ^ up there, and beats back that shark!! *
*looks left. Looks right*
* :sorry: * sorry. Moi? Over-zealous much?
:) Nossa -- It sounds like you had a wonderful time visiting your Grandfather. Henny's right -- jump in the water...

Yeah, thats what I plan on doing. I was also gonna fast for yom kippur, but for me fasting is...not to good. Wen I get hungry, I don't normally feel hunger(this is all from the chemo....), I start to ge hungry, then my stomach starts to hurt, then I get nauseated, and then it continues to spiral. So yeah, hopefully I can fast from Sun-up till sundown. but yeah I wana go back, there just this little thing that keeps bugging me...about the catholics. Eh, maybe I will discuss it with the rabbi, or maybe here....if anyone wants to listen ;)

Well, its kinda dumb, but its just that they do have that line of succession from Peter, and they do have those miracles and stigmata, and well yeah, all that. THey also have been around since, well, you know. I am being a crazy person in this crazy world. Maybe I will be hebrew catholic ;) continue doing my thing but being catholic at the same time ;) Or is that a no-no?

LOL - many would say that would only get you a seat of splinters and no peace...... while the catholic church has made a large thing of having their own brand of "Messianic Catholics" truth is that the two truly mix worse than oil and water.... Messianic Judaism predated Catholicisim by about 300 years.... and most of their sacraments and traditions are based on ancient Jewish traditions. Miracles are all around you.... if only you perceive......:)
But I realize that catholicisim is familiar and the known, whilst MJism is strange (really strange for some!! LOL) and truly the unknown. And thus the struggle.

True, again its difficult. Heh, maybe I could be the one to make a change or two ;) Oh well, I guess I will have to talk to the priest and the rabbi. BTW how does one become a rabbi in the first place?

Um... as one who left the RCC some 10 years ago, may I say that Catholicism is a whole-deal sort of religion, not a smorgasboard of beliefs and teachings of which one can simply pick and choose to embrace. The fact is that if you seek to 'make changes" in the RCC... well, let me just say that my family and I realized that our walk before HaShem is personal and that one mustn't stay in a belief-system and cause friction and waves by trying to "change" the areas one disagrees with. For one thing, such a plan and such behavior is disrespectful of the RCC in the first place and would be disruptive to the local community in the second place, were you to try. In the third place... well frankly the RCC is such a mixed bag of hellenized gentile practices and pagan-borrowed beliefs that I simply can't urge you strongly enough to be cautious in embracing that belief-system. My apologies if this offends -- but I have BTDT, grew up within the mess and mix of what is "Roman Catholic", was a faithful and strident Catholic for some 27 years of my life, served in the Church since the time I was itty bitty, maybe 4...
I'll be praying for the Spirit of HaShem to guve you guidance and wisdom and discernment.

BTW (<~~~ by the way) your UN (<~~~ username) was something really funny/cute you had based it on IIRC (<~~~ If I recall correctly) but I don't remember just now what that was... refresh my memory? ^_^

Thanks for explaining all your abreviations. Now the story of my user name....well for this internet game I played I had to think of a name for my character, so I took my real name (Jason) spelt it backwards (Nosaj) and I replaced the J with another S and put it randomly in the middle to get Nossa. I later learned Nossa is the spanish word for Our. *shrugs* Anyways cause the game also have RPing(<---- Role Playing) involved, I roleplayed a "lame ranger," my character "class" was a ranger, and he had a lame leg. And now for some reason I keep Nossa close to me at all times, as you can see. I also mentioned that I feel that I live through him, cause I feel IRL (<---- In Real Life) that I am "lame" in some way. *shrugs* So thats my story, how did you get your name Zemmy?

Ahh, I remember now. Thanks. Sometimes I would look at your UN and try to remember what it was your name stood for... and BTW you aren't either lame, but hey I know how that can be, feeling that way.
Zemirah means "song of joy" basically. I chose it for myself online a long while ago, after I felt G-d spoke to my heart that He created me to be a joyful song, so I found the name in Hebrew is "Zemirah" and it really clicked for me.
