I don't have enough posts yet to be able to submit a web address, but
http
://
www
.typicon.com
/Definition.htm

will give another useful site if you paste all the bits together - some liturgical definitions useful for newbies eg kontakion etc.

If anyone with fuller abilities wants to post the link itself, this post can be deleted!

Cheers, Tom.

NB Site is Melkite - is that orthodox? It looked it...

Here is the link (http://www.typicon.com/Definition.htm) Thomas posted. Melkites are actually Eastern Rite Catholics, but there are many similarities with Orthodoxy.

The Father Alexander site has this list (http://www.fatheralexander.org/booklets/english/dictionary_terminology.htm) which I think has some terms not in the list Michael posted.

There's also a good article here (http://www.unicorne.org/orthodoxy/articles/alex_roman/fasting.htm) about the meaning behind some of the phrases.

Somehow all of these lists seem to have left out the term "Orthodox time". I can't imagine why. :D

Welcome. Melkites are Roman Catholics (in communion with the Pope of Rome) but they use the Eastern Rite as opposed to Latin Rite.
